Household Oddities?

It's something that i've recently noticed, but my house is full of loads of quaint oddities and quirks, for instance, we have an old fashioned phone hooked to the landline as well as our modern BT landline, purely for the classic mechanical "Ring" that it makes. So I ask you, what pleasant little enigmas do you have in your home?

My household oddity would have to be the old oil lanterns my father puts on display. Apparently they remind him of his youth, but to me, they look more like something the Grim Reaper would carry as he ferries you over to the afterlife.
