How achievement hungry are you?

I was just wondering how much achievements matter to everyone on this site. Personally, I tend to play the game and any achievements I get along the way are a bonus. But I know people go out of their way to get them as well, such as the 200 flags in Assassins Creed which one of the developers of the game (can't remember which, read in xbox magazine) labeled as "crazy people".

Just wondering how you guys play in that regard.

A tiny bit. I like to go after the beaten on the hardest setting achievements because it proves my masculinity.

I like earning achievements just because they give me a stimulus to re-play a game I like.
OT: Even for PC gamers, aren't there like Steam achievements? Or Wow...

I don't own a Xbox, but if the games have achievements, so you can unlock new weapons, extras or cheats, I'm going to do them.

I am an avid collector of them, however I wish they were more uniform, but Halo being so 'special' it had to fuck it up major with its 1750 and now everyone thinks they can make any number of achievements. Fable 2, Fallout 3, Bioshock, LOTR:BFME2, Mass Effect, Halo 3, Gears of War 2, Condemned are all guilty of mucking achievements up... (I do realize some did it before Halo 3, but it got worse after)

I like to play a game for the fun of it, achievements are nice but are not at all important to me, I won't play a game for the achievements and won't get hung up on the fact that I will NEVER get the sniper rifle achievement in Mass Effect (or any game for that matter, lol)

I am a gamerscore whore, I don't have much, but I do go out of my way to find all the secret locations and play through the game many a time to get them... I don't even know why :(

At least It gets more play time out of the games without a multiplayer option.

I love improving my gamerscore. After seeing Kiutu's achievement points it has motivated me to get back on track since I have slowed down recently. :p

Not at all =) I like it if I get an achievment - when it pops up it's like a nice little surprise, especially if it's funny or interesting - but I've never consciously sought out achievements and completed them. I'm not much of a completionist at all, really...except for the game itself, obviousy. =P

Same here. I did however like the fact that you were actually rewarded for getting some of the achievements in something other than gamerscore, gave me a reason to work towards it more.

I like getting full 1000s on my 360 games, atleast the one's that don't require either massive amounts of time sinks, or just impossible numbers.

If there's nothing else to do then I usually have a crack at some achievement's other than that I don't bother with them

Only if it's fun to do so and doesn't require hours of grinding, searching needlessly for hidden packages or redoing the same thing just to get a few more points.

So far, the only one that's got me hooked into getting the full 1000 was Batman: AA, and that was worth the grinding, searching needlessly for hidden packages and redoing the same thing just for a few more points.

I'll go out of my way for achievements, though I do have my limits. I normally won't go for collection based ones, with a few exceptions.

But it also really depends on the game, and I don't really aim for the highest score I can get with the littlest effort, I'm currently working my way through Shadow Complex on insane for the 4th time, trying to reach level fifty. I flat out just won't go for some achievements if they don't look fun. As it stands I have 4, maybe 5 games that I've beaten 1000/1000. Including games like CoD4 and Dead Space.

Interestingly enough I don't feel the same compulsion for collecting trophies as I do for achievements. I think that's mainly because I started out with the 360 and don't feel up to the task a second time around. It really does change the dynamic of the way I play, and it’s nice to have both options open to me.
