How can i improve my laptops performance?

the thing can run total war games, but having installed them, then uninstalled them, etc etc and having had it for almost a year, are there any steps i can take to improve its perfomance back up to what it was at the beginning, without spending more than, say, £100.

basically can i improve the performance without spending any real money?

would getting it proffesionally rebooted/wiped (whatever you call it) help?

Run a disk cleaning, defragmentation, use spraycans of air to clean out dust or buy a cooling mat.

De-fragment your hard drive regularly, remove browsing history regularly, Do other regular system checks, clean your disk (not cd-rom), Avoid going to suspicious sites, don't wear it down by having many unnecessary windows open at once. That's all I can think of at the moment.
