How can I remove threads from discussion boards?

So often I will post some of my problems that I have on other discussion forums. But as of late I have become emberrased by what I have posted there and i was wondering if there was a way that I could erase them? I have already erased/removed many of the threads on various websites but there are still several out there that I would like to have removed. While many of the boards were nice enough for moderators to delete/remove my post many of them are having more stricter rules. I would like to know if there is any way that I can get them to remove my post for me?

You can edit your own post to cut the text, and then contact a mod to close the thread. Not sure if they erase threads on request, but worth an ask.
