Actually it is not such a hard sell, because id released the source code and there are numerous source ports which fix those problems. The only big downside is the graphics. It's not just the fact that they were done in 1991. It is the fact that putting Doom in a proper 3d environment means the sprites look weird when you look up or down at them. There are 3d models, but these are fan made and rather amateurish.Netrigan said:Or Doom. The game is legendary. It's easily more important than Halo in FPS history, but there's no mouse-look (no looking up or down either), no jump, and hitting moving targets far off in the distance can be really irritating thanks to the auto-z-axis aiming. It would be a tough sell to an audience that came up on more advanced games with better control schemes.
I must confess to not having played any Nintendo games except those Game & Watch things that were around in the mid 80s. On the other hand, I did get to enjoy great games on the Amiga, stuff like Cannon Fodder, Elite 2: Frontier, Lemmings, Populous 2, Exile, Civilization, UFO: Enemy Unknown aka XCOM: UFO Defense, Floor 13, The Settlers, and a decent conversion of Rainbow Islands. All this stuff seems to be criminally absent from 'must play' lists made by Nintendo fans.
