I haven't chosen mine yet (in the sense that I haven't found 'my avatar'). This one is just something that I went 'Oh, that'll do until I find what I want'.

EDIT: I just changed mine, but the above rule still applies.
"Red pressed A B Down!"

OT: Mine was drawn for me by Alalge, and edited for March Madness :D

Patlabor was the first anime I ever saw, I was 9 when I saw it advertised in a comic called "Space Precint". It was on BBC2 early in the morning and I taped it (I still have it 15 years later).
The mech that is my avatar is actually from the 2nd movie, prior to this I had one of a young Noa with Alphonse 1 & 3 (which will mean nothing to non-fans).

I wanted something equal parts amusing and stupid.

I think I succeeded.

Also, I enjoy making fun of nature freaks (to be honest the WWF isn't bad, but I do dislike stuff like PETA or Greenpeace) and have a shameful background of being a /b/tard, so corrupting the WWF panda with a pedobear face just feels like the natural thing to do.

I am Mr.Mudkip, owner of the Mudkip Legion, so I felt it was prudent to adopt the avatar of my army.

There is more than meets the eye about me. (sorry, bad pun)

OT
I liked transformers as a kid and I like the good/evil Autobot/decepticon mix of this avatar so adopted it as reminds me that I am both good and evil.

Well I was making characters for the board game Arkham Horror and based those on myself and my friends, for extra RP potential. So i took a photo of me holding my Soft Air gun and photo-shopped it heavily so it would resemble the character pictures of the original characters (supposed to look hand drawn and old).

It was fairly successful, and I needed an avatar so i thought what the heck.

I realized later that I'm screwing with the lore of the game since I am holding an AK47 and the game takes place in 1926. Oh well.

This one is the MM version of course.

After seeing all the diffrent avatars around the Escapist I got to wondering how other people picked theirs. As for my self I was looking for something I liked and wasnt too serious looking, so i went with Jack O'Neals bonzo rant from Stargate SG1, one of the funniest episodes ever. What made you pick yours?
I quite like Domo-kun as a silly icon and whilst it would suit me a whole lot more in real life it actually has quite an ironic feel to it on the forums as I often act as a relatively apathetic/unbiased arse.

You're forgetting that Panda's are just plain awesome.

I chose mine because I think Auron is kick ass and awesome. I haven't even played FF10!
How...? Don't get me wrong, he is. But how do you know if you haven't played the game?

I feel like I have answered this one before...
I'll just say now what I did then, I wanted an avatar to reflect how I was as a person.
(and you can enterpret that anyway you want ; )

EDIT: but really, I wanted something dark and humoruos, since I'm dark and humorous. (and insane...)
