A while ago, I started experiencing shoulder problems. Several trips to the doctor, a referral, an MRI, another referral and a trip to a physiotherapist later I was put on a course of physiotherapy for my left shoulder.
Basically, I'm being currently given a relatively simple exercise. on a bed, I get on my hands and knees. I then lift my right hand and left leg off the ground and put weight on my left arm. This exercises the ring of muscle around the shoulder socket. Thing is, I've been doing it for ages, and a return to the physiotherapist a few weeks ago revealed I had to keep doing it a while more before moving onto the next stage. Thing is, sometimes if I do it a lot, my shoulder clicks and hurts slightly. I've been warned against doing my normal exercise (IE push ups, pull ups, heavy lifting etc) to prevent wrecking the muscles permanently. I've asked my physiotherapist about what I can expect and she's just been vague. She says it'll take "a while" and that it's not guaranteed to work, which does worry me. Anyway, I figure there must be plenty of people on the Escapist who've messed themselves up. How long before I start noticing a difference? Are there any traps to avoid? Any advice in general is welcome. Thing is, she visits are local clinic occasionally, so appointments are hard to come by, so I can't just pop in with any questions I may have.
