You ever get tired of posters that seemingly only read the first post in a topic and take it at face value without comprehending what is really said or implied? Then the posters then arguing, "why didn't the op describe it in every detail, how dare they expect us to understand social nuance." Or not realize the article or new source (if even referenced) is not that reputable or has blatantly left out details.

I don't know, maybe I'm just venting frustrations of what I expect to be civil and normal rules for socialization and conversation and I could be completely off base.

That's why I give my threads misleading titles.

It gets people who don't pay attention, like how my dad would say "The End!" in the middle of a story when I was little, to make sure I was listening.

Your dad is a wise man, and raised you right.

I saw you complain about this in the thread. But it wasn't unreasonable of then to think what they did. They read the source and it made them mad. It's not their fault they weren't aware of more accurate sources.

Anyway, what you say here reminds me of when I'm at the cinema and people rush out like there's a fire once the credits start and often miss something at the end of the credits. My family always stays by ourselves.

After about 10 seconds of credits for Xmen Origins Wolverine there was a clip, and they all stopped and looked and we were like "You fucking idiots."

Well, I had memorized a lot of the Winnie the Pooh stories he'd read to me by then, but it did make sure my attention didn't wander too far.

Those are the only stories I directly recall him doing that with, but it might have happened once during his reading of The Hobbit.

He's actually really good at reading aloud. I think he should be a voice actor, myself.
He gives each character their own recognizable voice, and has excellent annunciation.

I've have been making this complaint in other threads too. Not just the "fishy source" one.

BTW, I rush out after the movie is over because I don't care about the "teaser" at the end. I know it is there, but I really need to pee.

Yeah, I hate it when llamas trample my rose garden.

I'm kidding, of course. Yes, it does bother me. I mean, you have time to comment on the topic but not to find out what it actually is? How does that work?

You say it by pushing air through your vocal cords.

But, yeah, it pisses me off when you have that one guy.

Well, it's not always unreasonable; there are many users on The Escapist who's mother tongue is not English.

But when it comes to reading the actual OP I usually read it once then read bits back when I'm responding to it. I hate posting a response and then spotting something in the OP that makes it pointless. That said, thread-posters can be a little silly sometimes; I get annoyed when they expect people to read through the whole thread before posting. If the thread has only grown to a few comments, then fine, but when it's 7 pages long then that's just silly. If you want people to take in certain information before they post then edit the damned OP.

I'm more frustrated with the escapist taking 200 seconds to load when I click links.

But yes. In less than ten minutes I'd completely debunked the fishy cop thread, as had other people and yet people are still simply posting knee-jerk reactions filled with incorrect facts. Happens all the time, from what I've noticed. What the OP says is all that matters to some posters, and there's nothing that can be done about it but to try and point out the facts.

I feel as though a way to flag incorrect information/misleading threads could be useful, but I can also see it being abused to heck and back.

I think it has a lot to do with Escapist demographic being primarily of the younger variety. I mean teenagers.

Hear hear!

This has mainly got something to do with a specific thread where a fish was acting as a cop, it seems.

But sure, it's slightly annoying.

And to finish it off the S sound clamp your teeth togather lift your lips and blow out through your teeth. Those are the steps that I use to make that word.

...Welcome to the internet. Normal, rules, and actual socialization need not apply. Also, conversational rules on a forum tend to be reverse of that in real life. You can pop into the tail end of a real conversation on accident, but opening up a 10-page thread and reading the whole thing is time-consuming. I tend to read the first and last pages, just out of courtesy... but courtesy is not common on the web.

Exactly. Or I always follow up explaining something with "and that's why God votes (insert current/archaic political party here)". The looks I get when I say that make my day.

OT: You expect people to read on the internet and to be REASONABLE?! BURN YOU HERETIC SCUM!!! Seriously, that bugs me too. I recently started a similar thread to this with lots of replies, so we're not alone buddy.

I don't know if it's just the Escapist or what, but I also hate it when the OP is misinterpreted. Even if multiple people comment to other posters that they're reading it wrong or they've missed some important piece of information, we still get 20 pages of the exact same misunderstanding posted in one or two sentences.

Like that Jedi thing... or the nuclear power thread a few weeks ago....
