Put your two cents in everywhere, even if you don't really care about the topic

Some people have been here a long time. Posting regularly for a few years tends to add up. Ain't that right, Neonbob?
Why yes. Yes it is.
Although I've only been here for about...8 months.
yeah.

I can see how that works *wink wink*

I ended up doing about 5 posts between me and Thudin about zombies but he went to sleep, he needed to rest his little kittie cat eyes, Dawwwh. (His avatar is a cat.)
Good!
*nudge nudge*

Was that in the middle of a thread on something else?

One other thing to keep in mind: realize when you're really getting out of hand in a derailment, and take it to PMs.

It'll keep you out of trouble.

Anything that looks even mildly interesting, I post on. The secret is too try and start a discussion, and post a very quotable post, so you can often go back to said thread.

RPs and User Groups help a lot too.
User groups add to your post count?
Apparently, yes.

Well this is on topic, it about post whoring. Also the epic de-rail that it was. It was the guys thread that I de-railed. His own thread. hehe. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.130088#2839036 for reference.

Your best friend and worst enemy. The only thing that you really cannot go without in this world, but will never run out completely...

Time.

It takes boredom, lots of boredom. The reason I have as many posts as I do is because I've been home all summer and there's not much to do in my house that doesn't involve a computer. I've sorta just been siting around on the Escapist posting in anything that's somewhat interesting. Like I'm doing right now.

Well after one year, I've only managed to get around 1500 posts. I don't really like to post in too many nonsense topics, which is why my post count isn't alot higher. In the end though, it doesn't really matter their post count, its what they write in their posts that I care about.

Awwwww, Neon, do you get scared out here in the big, bad world of off-topic discussions? Everything will be o.k., I promise.

Naw, but seriously, OT I think like people have said, they either post on everything, have alot to say, or hang out in Forum Games and RP, like my buddy Neonbob. Personally, I posted a lot when I first joined, but things have been hectic. Once it slows down again, I'll probably continue to post more and more often. it's all a matter of what you have to say, and how much time people devote to being on here.

Basically start conversations with people on any thread, not to mention joining any RP game will net you quite a few post in a week. Either way, post count doesnt mean shit.
Hey... How's the weather there?

I just did so inadvertently. It's been five months, after all, and I'm a lot more talkative on the internet than in real life (depending on partner and subject).

I guess if I really wanted to up my count, I would go over to Forum Games, but I haven't really been in the mood for it these past couple of years...

I find all the interesting topics and post on them, but I barely have any posts. People like MaxTheReaper who I've been seeing alot in the post I read has 12000+ post. How do people do it?
To be fair, most of max's posts are about using the search feature ;)

I have over 1000 and I just joined not to long ago.

It's not too hard, just post on things that interest you.

I've usually noticed that people with high post counts are -really- opinionated.

...

I think we're onto something here

Well, I credit my abnormal count to my usual base of operations:
the Forum Games section.
I do venture out somewhat regularly, but I always go back.
There is much more freedom to babble there.
Gotta be this. He's gotta be doing something right.
