And no prostitution, lol.
I've been really skeptical about new games after Other M disappointed me and Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Portal 2 simply satisfied me (of course, I had high hopes). It's a good thing, too, since Duke Nukem Forever sucked and Alice was, well let's say "flat-chested".

I have a part time job with which I buy clothes, video games, and pay for my cellphone bill. I usually have all the money I need to buy the games I want.

I almost never buy games at full price.
Even when I need to have a game (Skyrim!) I'll be shopping around on the internet for the best deal. Shops are almost universally more expensive.

I don't. *sobs and looks at the space on his shelf where Portal 2 should be*
Hahaha this .

No seriously , i buy maybe 2-3 games on release a year , the rest are games that have dropped in price or used . But since i like rpgs more than any other genres , the games keep me busy for quite a while reducing my need for a new game . So yeah , the longer the games are , less games i buy per year , more money in the bank . My suggestion to OP is , buy games that are at least a year old , sure you can't talk about the newest game to all your friends , but if thats the reason you play games as opposed to playing games for fun , your doing it wrong.

Deals4Downloads.com

I pretty much pay like $5 dollars a game working off that and steamgamesales.com. Also, discounts: I paid $33 to preorder Witcher 2.

Christmas. I get most of my games then. There are some I just can't wait for, but they're not many.

I sell my ass for Hot Pockets and the money I would usually spend on Hot Pockets I spend on games. Don't ask how I get my Hot Pockets money.

I don't piss away my money on alcohol or cigarettes like a chump.
All you smokers out there don't expect any sympathy from me. "Oh, it's so hard to quit!" Then you shouldn't have started in the first place, dumbass.

I sell the sweets I steal from little children. The profit isn't big but it suffices for Steam sales.

Good ol' fashioned saving, first off.. if you put a little aside starting early on, you'll have the money when the game actually releases. Example: I know I want the Last Guardian at release. It comes out next year. If I stick 3-5 bucks in jar once a week starting now, I'll have more than enough to buy it when it does release.

Aside from that- buy used. It's cheaper and you get a chance to see if the games you only sorta-wanted end up being crap and not worth your time before you buy. (Although it can backfire if a game gets rare and goes up in value instead...) Also, if you're in the US, signup to get Gamestop emails and wait for an E-rewards invite. Take online surveys, earn free Gamestop gift cards. (This is actually how I'm paying for the Last Guardian. I have card #2 on the way, if I get a third I'll have enough to pay in full and have leftover money. If I don't it's only $20ish dollars out of pocket.)

I'm a porn star in my free time.
Ok, joking aside. I sell a lot of my games. If I don't play it anymore, I sell it. Also I get paid by my parents to do stuff sometimes.

I don't have much disposable income for games.

About half of my games I get for free as I'm a volunteer moderator for Bethesda's forums - we get copies of all of the games covered there. Most other games I get on sale, although on rare occasions I do purchase them new. Portal 2 was one of these rare occasions, I can't remember the last one before that . . . it was quite some time ago.

My job, I also tend to sell games on after a while, and use the money to get new ones.

I don't trade my games into stores like Gamestop, there a rip. I sell online, to other gamers. Not someone wanting to make a profit off me.

OT: No, but really, I don't buy too many games only getting a couple new releases a year and I try to limit it to those games I think I'll like the most. This year it will probably be the new AC and Skyrim so far.
