How do you creat a PSN Account?

I feel so embarrassed asking this but i recently finally got a ps3.

I've had a psp since launch so i have a psn account. When PSN came back i decided to try. I went sign up, filled in the info my of my account on my psp and it said were sending you an email to change your password.

I changed my password, went back to my ps3 clicked sign in to psn with existing account, filled in more info then sent me the same email about changing my password......

Ummmm what do i do? i have a bunch of PSone classics so i need to use this account.

What am i doing wrong am pulling my hair out here. Thank everyone so much in advance.

I have a feeling it might not be you. When the PSN originially came back on it was a simple matter of resetting your password BUT this only worked if you were resetting with same machine you had before the outage. In other words, to stop some hacker just using your PSN on someother PS3 and changing your password they tied the reset to your registered PS3 (some hidden serial number I guess).

But what about all those people who just happened to get a new PS3 during the outage and had never registered their machince before (like yourself)? Well, in that case we'll send an email to them.

But then they found out that their security checks to get the email, which included date of birth, was using information the hackers could have already obtained from hacking the PSN in the first place.

So in other words the "we'll email you" option was compromised and I think they shut it down.

Of course, following their current pattern of media blackout they haven't said anything, or done anything to let people know this. I read an article explaining this but can't find it, here's two I could find saying the account registration would be down.
