When I first started I drank my coffee with 1 to 3 tablespoons(not teaspoons) of sugar per cup and no cream, but now I completely forgo adding sugar. As others have said it's an acquired taste, but it's easier to prepare. Now I can't even stand the taste of sweetened coffee after years of drinking it without any type of sweetener.

I drink it like a real man.
Filled with vanilla, caramel, toffee, chocolate, and with lots of whipped cream.
They don't call me Slaughter McBadass for nothing.

I try, emphazises on try, to drink it black, but after a few sips, I get disgusted, and put a lot of sugar and cream.

I could count the amount of coffee's I've had with one hand. The stuff just leaves a nasty taste in my mouth unless its loaded with sugar, which I always try to stay away from.

Call me Mr. Picky but I'll stick with good old fashioned H2o

I start my morning with a Long Black with one sugar. I'll drink Cafe Lattes with one sugar until noon, maybe one o'clock, if I drink after then I'll have a machiatto or short black again with one sugar. I don't drink from filters, plungers, presses or percolators, espresso only as it is the superior brewing method. What can I say, I live in Melbourne.

...a really strong espresso brewed for about 10 minutes which blows your head off (or at least makes you go crosseyed and your jaw lock up for half a second) it's a masochistic pleasure.

You can't brew an espresso for ten minutes. It is instant, quick, short, fast, hence espresso. Are you thinking of a percolator or something? One of those stove top jiggers that sometimes incorrectly get labelled espresso maybe? An espresso is made by forcing pressurised not quite boiling water through coffee grounds and into a cup/glass.

How I don't have my coffee...

It's definitely an acquired taste. I tried coffee when I was young and had to have it with lots of milk and sugar, but over time I had it stronger and stronger. I make my coffee with a teaspoon a coffee, a teaspoon of sugar and a bit of milk.

I'd recommend next time trying a latte or a mocha if you want something a little sweeter.

and caramel drizzle on top.

It depends entirely on where I am. In my own home, I take it black with two sugars. At my folks' house I get lazy and just use a sissified flavored creamer (if you pour the creamer first you don't need to stir, so it's just pour-drink-aaarghIburnedmytongue). From a coffee shop, I'll get either a latte or the local frappucino ripoff, either one flavored peppermint mocha.

At any of these times I may decide to do not that and try something new.

I tried an americano from Starbucks once.
That was the weakest cup of coffee I've ever tasted. And there was practically half a liter of it. I suppose the taste was okay though.
Cafe Americano is literally watered down espresso. American GIs overseas ordered it that way because they weren't used to how strong the espresso was (hence why it's "Americano").

Just add about 2 sugars and enough 1/2 and 1/2 until it turns caramel-ish brown. I'm 14 and drank it this way from about a year ago and I've slowly started leaning towards stronger coffees. Kinda an everyday thing for waking up at 6:10 in the morning (awful at waking up).

I've tasted it but have a strong disliking to it. It's supposed to be an acquired taste but why bother when you could drink tea :)

Blacker than the devil's hooves is the only way I take my coffee. None of the fru-fru iced mocha capp-whatever they serve at most places.

I don't really like coffee.

However, most of those awesome specialty drinks at cafes and stuff look oh so good. I'm trying to see if I can acquire a taste for it. Or at least see if the chocolate and whipped cream and caramel and stuff will make it better.

A full cup of black espresso is what I usually have, none of this milk or Americano diluted garbage.

I had my first coffee at about 18 or 19 so I was also late to the coffee bandwagon. I didn't like black but I can tolerate it at this point. Personally though, I strongly prefer my coffee with rice milk and, sugar. If available, a flavored creamer like caramel or something. I also prefer iced coffee over hot or ideally, a coffee slushy kind of thing. Don't have to worry about the ice melting and diluting the flavor.
