How do you embed a video?

I've tried looking it up and following the instructions, but I never got it to work. Could someone else provide a different explanation?

Without the spaces.

An example is

[ youtube=6O4q4eQnlIQ ] With spaces, and when you remove them

Here's my attempt at embedding a video ( I hadn't known how until I saw this thread).


And on a similar note, how to I insert a picture? Is it the same process as with a video?
