Not well though I do endure a ton of damage, I mean I once had a fight that lasted 4 hours and the guy I was fighting didn't have a scratch on him and I was completely dazed and covered in blood from my broken nose and lips and I would still stand up and go for more, after that the guy realized that I wasn't going to give up unless I was knocked out or dead and he gave up, after that day all the guys at that school left me alone, so I guess I'm just lucky and dumb, I could have just stayed down after the first punch and I wouldn't have had to go to the hospital but retreat is not a word on my dictionary.

I fight dirty.

In both games and in real life, I don't believe in fighting honorably. Now, I don't have a degree of personal honor. I wouldn't use an innocent person to my advantage or anything like that; I do have a sense of honor in the world of conflict. But once I've gotten into the area of actual fighting? The way I see it is this: if a situation has regressed to the point that the only way to resolve the problem is to "beat" the other guy, then I will win by any means necessary.

In real life? I will hold nothing back, even things that I know will get me lots of flack or cause people to think I'm unstable: grabbing a handful of hair, biting, throwing dirt in someone's eyes, etc. If I can get a good punch or kick to the testicles, I'll take it. I fight to win. I'm a non-violent person by nature. I've only ever been in one or two fights, and they weren't very serious and diffused quickly. But if I've been pushed into fighting, the gloves are off completely and I unleash the beast. I really don't see the point in saying "I'm not going to use cheap tricks" or "I'm gonna be the better man." If it's regressed to the point of a straight-up fight, then, to me, there is no "better man," there's only a winner and loser.

In games, I'm pretty much the same way. My favorite styles of play revolve around stealth, traps, taking advantage choke-points and employing the element of surprise. My favorite classes in RPGs are the "rogue" types.

Yeah, I think I've made it clear how I like to fight.

EDIT: Oh! And mind games! I love using mind games! Psyching someone out or convincing them that they don't want to fight you. That's the best. The above is a description of what I would do if every other approach had failed and it comes down to "kick ass or get my ass kicked."

RL: I'm big, and quiet. If I ever got angry enough to fight someone, I would use my high pain threshold to have them attack me, then grab them and throw them to the ground with me on top. I would crush them. Make them come to me, and then never let go. Let me make this clear, if I was ever in a fight, I would either hospitalize someone or kill them.

FPS: fire wildly and hope I hit something

RTS: Front line pikes, skirmishers behind, with cavalry covering the flanks and heavy infantry ready to back up the pikes.

Shock and Awe said:
This is a pretty simple question, how do you fight? Whats your strategy? It doesn't matter if this is the way you fight in games or real life. If its in games it can be from FPS to Strategy games, the same concepts often apply.

Personally I tend to like to wait for my opponent to make a move and counter attack or evade in a way where he uses more energy than me. This applies both to games and real life. I tend to be a very defensive person in strategy games especially. I wait until I have the overwhelming upper hand and deliver the appropriate attack. That situation has never came up in real life however, I have never been in a fight that was not somewhat balanced so I have always been reactive rather than aggressive.

What about you guys/gals?
In FPS and 3PS games I prefer to mix things up, often a sniper rifle and a pistol or sniper rifle and shotgun. I play a role as a sniper or someone to pick off the larger threats in the fight while team mates take the brunt of the force and act as a distraction.

Lately in Gears of War 3 I have closed the range up a bit more via wielding the retro lancer and gnasher or a boomshot. I still tend to play the same role as a flanker.

The few times I play strategy games I tend to turtle up for awhile and then overwhelm with a large force.

Fighting games, I stick to speedy characters or characters with extra reach.

As for real life, I'm comfortable with unarmed combat, melee with improvised weapons, knives, swords and rifle butts. I'm also pretty decent with a rifle at mid-range, outside of 300meters is where I get a bit dodgy though, I haven't bothered much with long range marksmanship. And as a bit of an end note I'm fairly competent with a bow. So basically inside of 300 meters and most people don't have a chance.

RL: I have my own special style that scares everyone. I call it rabid monkey blind rage. Jump, bite and wrestle them to the ground. They throw a punch? Grab it and cannibalize that arm.

In videogames I just follow hit them hard and fast. Don't give the enemy time to react, dodge over to the other side and give them another blow. In most games I like to play the mage so I can nuke things from a safe distance.

Fighting games? I try to react, though I've been kinda slow lately. I used Sakura, Akuma, and M. Bison (Dictator) in SF4 and used their jump attacks to fight projectile users. I try to control space with Lambda-11, but I've been getting worse at guessing how the opponent will react. If I can corner you, then I have a pretty good pressure game with her.

RPGs, I'm a mage forever. Unless it's Mass Effect. I took the Tech (debuff) class.

I essentially fight like Marv from Sin City. Remember the fight with the mute ninja kid? If I can get ahold of them, they're screwed, essentially.

Real life?
I do believe in honour, I know people don't - but I do...but all that really means is I'll never kick someone when they're down. Never.
Though I'll do everything else.

In anycase, I let them attack first. The saying my dad used to give me when he was teaching me was "If you ever need to strike first, you don't need to strike at all", and yea. Whatever happens, happens.

If you want specifics? I can't give them to you. Each fight is unique, and you adapt to each situation. Though I'm mainly an upper body when it comes to striking, palms, elbows, fists, claws, hooks...etc etc...and all the blocks nd such, I still do stances, knees nd kicks from the waist down but still. It's hard to explain.

As for games? I'm guns, knives and speed. Depends on the game.

Tabletop 40k? Speed - Isolation - and kill kill kill.
RTS? Either tortoise tactics with lots and lots of heavy weapons or....No. I'm a moving fortress.

IRL: dirty, there's no such thing as fair in an actual fight

in games i mostly go for speed characters though i do prefer chars who do drunken boxing, just a big fan of the martial art don't know why really.

up close and personal with fast crushing blows. i like the visceral pleasure of feeling somebody's body give way to the physical force you are delivering through your fists.

FPSs: I rush if possible with ARs, SMGs and shotgun, using smoke grenades to help my team. If the team is hanging back and not doing anything though, I just rage and try to pick up kills. Nothing else I can do in that situation if no one else is.

In real life I try my hardest to avoid fights, and so far i've been successful
In games, I have two ways of doing things:
1: charge in Rambo-style guns blazing (or sword thrashing) until everything (or more likely, me) is dead
2: stealthily take out everything in my way, one by one. Takes longer, but i enjoy the hunt (and usually die less often)

In video games, and in real life, I win by learning as much as I can about the opposition. That might be reading his fighting style in a fistfight, or it might mean playing half a dozen rounds as my opponent's RTS faction against my preferred faction to get a feel for how they perform against each other. Once I know how his and my strengths and weaknesses match up, I exploit the gaps I get for all they're worth. In games it can lead to me getting creamed by the other guy because I know nothing about his strategy, or he used familiar units in an unusual way. In a real fight, if I can't get a feel for the way the other guy is fighting, I try to avoid a fight if possible. I'm a good bit shorter than the average joe, and undoubtedly weaker and lighter, but I'm inordinately flexible, and no one expects someone who looks as unassuming as I do to have the burst strength I do. (Once had a guy put me in a hold on the ground, then for fun stood up from prone with him still holding on.)

Real Life: Grappler. Take you down. One or another your getting chocked or something getting broken.

Games: Stealth. Never be seen or heard.

Watch UFC, yeah that's how i fight.
I am a striker over a grappler, but have been known to apply an effective choke hold.
I tend to control all RL fights, leading my opponent where i want him to go with faints and light techniques that arent designed to damage but to move my opponent. Until the time for the KO blow comes. Usually a right kick to the thigh, followed by a right cross to the head as their leg buckles.
I pride myself on my impact training and so far havent found anyone able to knock me out.
Having said that though I dont fight all the time, i can usually talk most people down.

In fighting games i favor karate style fighters as that is what my RL training is based on.
4 years of Goju Ryu training for the record.

In RTS i play land possession tactics, moving a moderate force forward in stages, leaving a smaller force at the last check point as a reserve.

In RPG i play DPS warriors, played a Dwarf Warrior DPS for 5 years on WoW.
I always use an NPC team member as the tank where possible.

In FPS i tend to lead most assaults and get shot to hell and back :p
But i am usually forcing the enemy to split the forces defending multiple approach routes as my team members tend to follow my lead and go some of the previous routes i have taken, but then im looking for another angle to charge from. Thats not to say im above sniping to thin the enemy some if i feel the assault is becoming a stale mate.

Games, I fight fairly defensively, Especially in FPS. The exception is of course god of war like games.

In real life, I basically just do whatever I can top hurt this person. Elbows, knees, anything really. A favourite maneuver of mine is to hit them in the gut, and then when they double over drive their face into my knee.
