I go for a run, clear my head.
Running does it for me too, run through a nice area of town or if you can run through nature. Its great for you and after awhile becomes a lot of fun.

Yea I over think things constantly and it gets on my nerves, at which point I crank the Metallica, take the bass down off the wall and blast some Ride The Lightning.

I used to have a mind that wouldn't shut off but it didn't bother me, untill the relationship with my ex fell apart and I found it somewhat hard to cope. So yeah, I drank, alot, which made me emotionally numb. I wouldn't recommend it, it's not healthy either physically or mentally but in the end I'd numbed myself to where I didn't need alcohol.

The problem now is that I'm in a pretty much permanently numb state where I dislike showing any emotion, can't form attachments to people, the plus side is nothing bothers/affects me anymore.

Depends on what I'm trying to not think about

If its a social thing, a girlfriend problem for instance, I go for a workout. Nothing gets me thinking about philosophical concepts like a good weight or run session.

If I can't stop thinking about a philsopohical concept or existential question, doing something socially with friends will usually stop those thoughts.

I simply just try and think it through, as i know it wont help to just play games and forget it.
I've tried that approach tons of times, and the thought always sneeks up on me again.
So i go for runs, walks - take my moped for a spin, even ride the bike if i dont want to think it through, but at some point i have to think things through or write about it, that's the way i get through it, or by solving the problem that's on my mind ofcourse, if that's an option.
