How do you grind?

There are many games, usually RPGs, that at some point will ask you to start grinding. Whether that mean trying to level up your character or find a specific item drop, many of us have had to deal with grinding from time to time. So I ask you, Escapees, how do you deal with the grind?

I've had 'Disgaea Training', meaning that I can grind for days at a time without fatigue, but the main thing that gets me through it is being able to play any and all of my music in the background. No matter how monotonous or boring the grind my be, if I can distract my self with my music, I can keep goin as long as I need to

I don't really do anything special to grind. I usually enjoy it, so I don't feel the need to do anything.

Usually I don't even listen to music or anything other than the game music.

When it's necessary, I try to listen to podcasts from The Escapist or Wall Street Journal radio when Rush Limbaugh isn't on (or any other annoying talk show host for that matter).

I don't really have many games that require me to grind. Except maybe Too Human, where I had to grind to get to the max level and get all the epic armor sets. In that instance, I just sort of had fun playing the game. It wasn't boring to the extent of a Boar killing grind, so it was still enjoyable enough to play.

I'm a grinding machine. I use to spend two or three hours on WoW grinding out regents for myself while I was playing.

All I really need is a rainy day, some music and I'm set.

Audio books are excellent for this. I recommend Lord of the Rings and Dresden Files, they got me through many a grind.

Also I have two monitors, so if I'm playing a game where I need to grind, I'll have the other monitor playing something interesting, TV show or a movie or somesuch, so I can split my focus on something more interesting.

hm lets see...for pokemon i usually split it up to dailies only til i get the urge to play...im not really in a rush

for oblivion i amuse myself with exploring and general RPness in my mind. i like the game's sounds too much to play music.

for divinityII:ED I'd be too amused with aerial tricks to care (after getting dragonform, before that I play music)

for harvest moon (yes it's a grinder, monotonous things several times every day? yes please) id change it up to keep from doing the exact same thing every day, and music is needed from my laptop for this because HM music usually gets annoying FAST.

It's simple. I don't

I hate grinding and avoid it at all costs.

I've only ever liked one game where it's required to grind and that was FFX

I don't play games where the grinding isn't fun.

But I do, however, play a certain MMORPG that has zero grind...

I love grinding. Don't know why but one of my biggest thrills in games comes from seeing that sparkly above-head sign that usually comes with a amusing jingle.

Sometimes I wish I could level up in real life.

Usually all I do is mute all sound from the game I'm grinding on and play my itunes in the background. When I don't feel like listening to music much I'll put on a podcast for a while. This gets me through any grinding periods of gameplay.

Oh definitly, and not to mention that sound from mass-leveling. It's also great to see the results and dish out massive damage to see that you've actually accomplished something.

Music, maybe a podcast, cnn internet feed.

What a shame that we, as gamers, must endure such boring filler. I feel no sense of accomplishment, just duped for wasting my time grinding levels in a 'game'. What happened to fun?
