I'll be in the future once I have self-tying shoes, self-drying jackets, and maybe flying cars.

Basically Back to the Future 2.

It's only 5 years away *crosses fingers*

Now that I think about it, it's kind of funny what gaming was in Back to the Future 2... There's an arcade game of an NES game, Wild Gunmen. And Elijah Wood and his buddy complain that you have to use your hands.

Are they referring to Project Natal?

Is Project Natal not "a baby's toy"?

Cyberware. For me the future was always about the "augmented human".

Now we have "smart drugs", and stuff like that, but for me the "OMG!" moment was when I was doing research on glucometers (a device to measure blood glucose levels) for a diabetic friend of mine and I discovered that there are already sub-dermal implants on the market to measure blood glucose, and they send the data directly to your phone. Yup, that's right, you get a doctor (or your local vet if you're cheap ;) ) to inject an implant under your skin and it samples your blood and sends the information to your phone. The newer ones measure blood CO2 content, stress hormone levels, and a mess of other stuff, but at the moment they're still pretty expensive, but still...

Cyberware!!!!

When I first downloaded Project 64 on my laptop. I was like, fuck, I used to pay for this stuff.

Another time was when I made my Xanga (anyone remember that?), and was connected to my friends in Europe.

I don't remember what year it was, but it was somewhere in-between 2000 and 2005 when I found out that cloning works now and we cracked the human DNA code. But for me it won't be the future until we can travel faster than light.

I like this thread.

Couple of days ago, in the main shopping street of my town, I saw a flat screen against a shopwindow that showed moving images like on a TV. It wasn't a flatscreen-TV, hung against the window. No, it was literally a flat screen, with a decent picture, no wires to be seen anywhere. It looked like a moving poster against the glass. There were some people looking at it, clearly thinking "what the fuck is that?".

It looked like something out of a SF-movie.
Weird thing is, I've never seen anything like it, yet here it was, in an ordinary women's clothing store.

I'm only 19 years old so I don't remember a time without computers but...

Every so often I'll look at my cell phone and think "I remember when these things didn't have a screen." Then I'll think further, "I remember when these things didn't exist!" Then I think "I have to be wrong, that's impossible!" But then I look it up on wikipedia and, sure enough, these things weren't given to us by God from the first day we were created. Freaky...
