How do you (level) grind?

I have always avoided level grinding because it is so repetitive, but I recently got Final Fantasy XIII and finally decided to seriously level grind. The battle system in final fantasy is so simple that if you have a medic in your default paradigm that all you have to do is tap x (or A) repeatedly and you will win most battles, and sound is not necessary for battles. Therefore I simply began listening to a classic rock radio station on itunes and the level grinding became bearable.

I was wondering what makes level grinding bearable (or enjoyable) for my fellow escapists.

What I usually do when I'm leveling a new character in WoW is that I use a leveling addon that shows me where to go, and I watch a series or a movie on my second monitor :D

At the moment I'm watching Bones season 1 ^^

If its something that only requires you to have one button pressed, i'll tape said button down, turn off the TV, and come back in a few hours
Sometimes it works, but i haven't really had to level grind in a looong time, so... yeah...

Combine Fobbies and Psi Fire Gamma.

The noise created by the process is quite hilarious, and irritates my Dad.

Lots of music I can easily sing along with. Or using Skype or something similar to discuss world problems (or possibly armies in Warhammer:40K) with.

Music always does it for me. or have a movie going for background. those things for me really help pass the time. also grab some snacks.

I typically imagine that my character's parents were actually killed by whatever it is I am repeatedly killing.
Anything else that might have killed his parents is non-canon.
Those mole rats that I keep killing in Fallout?
They murdered my entire family when they staged an uprising and escaped from Vault 13.

Well the only game which I need to grind with at the moment is Final Fantasy, which (with some help from my emulator) plays very, very fast.

Well, whenever I played WoW, I used to always have a friend/s with me whenever I was out doing daily quests/level grinding/gathering.

I just do it, not really dull to me.

I spent a week Level Grinding in the same area in a game.
If it does start to get repetitive, try looking around older areas of the game.

Also, adding sound affects and bad voice acting to whatever your doing will undoubtly make it instantly funny :D

Sidequests, battling, or grinding some other statistic that has far more immediately obvious benefits. I wound up overleveled a bit in Tales of the Abyss because I was training my characters' attacks with Fon Slot Chambers, in Tales of Symphonia because I was training everyone's recipe skills (battling for ingredients money and for opportunities to cook), and in Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World because I was doing all of the Katz missions.

Use a power up before the battle and focus on the hulls and turrets first.

I avoid games that require grinding. You know, other than oblivion. For that I just beared with it until I had one character who had gotten the important skills high enough and never made a new character.

I grind while doing other stuff that doesn't require much attention, like casual browsing or listening to music.
And there's always wrapping a trusty rubber band around the thumbstick and wandering off.
