I have tried to come up with a good thread but its really hard. I have tried the whats your fav game that got like 50 views and 10 comments. So i make this thread in the hopes that you will have great advice or I will watch this thead croak and die

Something that can be answered in a few seconds.

If it makes the reader have to type long sentences then their attention spam is strained and they don't post.

The only other way is to bring up a topic that strikes someone's nerve, but that's rare.

you can either spark controversy or you can make a thread where you can literally get away with a one word reply. that's about it.

Make a thread that's been done 400 times before. After everyone is done complaining it's been done before they'll discuss it.

Click that button and it's like replying to a thread, there's a little tick box to add polls. You don't need to type "Poll:" in the title, it does it for you. :)

OT: Ask a question that is easy to answer/requires thought that hasn't been asked before.

The best threads always ask questions like: "what do you think of x?" after explaining what x is and the OP's thoughts on x.

Sometimes it's just news that hasn't got a thread yet.
