More specifically, how do you motivate yourself when you have a insurmountable mountain of work and a very short deadline? and you feel that you cant really get it done anyway?

Its a bit of a low content post I know, but its the situation im in. I have a lot of things due monday, and im worried.

I force myself to start working. Once you have started working it goes surprisingly smoothly.

Well, for schoolwork I make a decision. I can either work, or not work and do my well-deserved detention. Occasionally, I do pick the detention...but even then I still have to do the work.

Don't put things off, just decide either way. Do it, or don't.

I do everything waaaaaay in advance, so I can relax and be a Grammar Nazi.

The thread title should be "How do you motivate yourselves?"

Positive and negative reinforcement: if I finish it, then I don't have to concern myself with it anymore, and if I don't, then I'll feel awful about it for a while thereafter.

I just do things early so that later I can have more time to do things I like and or edit the thing I just wrote. It's really motivating and usually works. (For me at least!)
