Hey escapist, how do you pay for your games? That is to say, what's your job? I'm just a bit curioust o see the spread here.

I'll start.

Ahem, I'm a 26 year old who works in McDOnalds because I have a hard time holding down a job and dint' take my education seriously (something i regret now lesson to you younger ones) as a result I need to go college/uni to get a proper job.

On an unrelated note i recently got my hands on a bunch of extremely rare and very expensive games for peanuts! Like Valkyrie Profile 1 for the PS1! :3

I'm a student so I eh... sleep for 16 hours a day.

Luckily I only buy about 5 games a year, my college savings can fund that.

Well, I'm a full time student.

But I recently acquired a programming job that is making me a lot of money, so that.

Wait, you actually buy games? I break into stores after they close and steal all the games...

That was a joke, I buy them with my own money. I do not have a job, so I am not sure where it all comes from...

Student. I pay for games by saving up, and only buying multiplayer games new. The others, I wait for them to go on Steam sale. This weekend's is pretty epic.

You won't be any more if you don't get off my bloody corner, you bastard! I'll cut you up into little cubes then feed you to my hamster!

OT: Trade ins, saving for weeks, waiting for price drops and sometimes being gifted a game by a generous pal.

Sometimes being unemployed has its benefits. Although they are few and far between. :(

I clean up shit for a living. Well actually I still live at home and my parents pay for my necessities but I do work part time at a vet's office to pay for things I want.

I used to work in a grocery store, but now I'm a full-time student and only have a rapidly shrinking stockpile of money that doesn't buy games unless they're less then three bucks. I've had no income for about seven months now.

Or I beg my parents.

Considering I currently don't have a job, I don't :'( DA2 will either taunt me for months, or laugh at me when I'm eating ramen for a month

My family allows me to pocket the change (coins) when I run errands for them. A month usually equates to $30 in change. Thank you, Coin Star.

Work in a bio lab and recently started to do consulting on the side. I use GameFly for console games and tend to be very picky about PC games that aren't casual (fiancée likes them) or a super deal on Steam.

Buy a game like Call Of Duty, play it for a year, then go grab the other titles that came out while I was distracted for a third the price!

A. Full time student.

B. I hunt raccoons and make them into hats.

C. I travel around the US with my brother hunting demons and monsters while listening to classic rock.

D. I'm mentally disabled and get a check from the government.

E. I'm a housekeeper.

or F: I inherited a fortune from my dead parents and fight crime at night.

Two of those are true. Take your pick.

You know the bank will count your change for free, rather than charging 10% like coinstar.

I work in Telemarketing.
