I've been on a Civ kick for the last few days, but I find I always am unsatisfied with the way my game is going and usually restart by the Renaissance. I usually set up a custom game so I can make sure a cultural victory isn't possible, but I never get far enough along to win anyway.
What are some of your personal rules or ways of playing that keep it interesting for you? I'm still trying to find the playstyle that suits me best and will get me through to the end. I think I've only ever hit the space race once.
Do you choose techs in natural progession order, go straight religion/war only? Do you become an economic superpower, take over the world, or just play in a tiny corner of the world and ignore the rest? How many cities do you build? What maps are your favorites, what size or speed? What Civs do you use? (I mostly use Viking, I have the complete pack and play Beyond the Sword).
Any tips? I'm still kind of learning all the ins and outs, too. Do you let your city populations get huge, or do you regulate them? That kind of thing.
