Good evening fellow Escapists!

I had a rough day today. My exam didn't go nearly as well as I had hoped. My homework load has stacked to the ceiling. The ex that I'm not totally over is flirting playfully with some guy (not sure why that still bugs me after all this time, but I guess that's another thread). A good friend of mine was in a car accident (nothing real serious, but scary all the same).

And yet I feel fantastic right now. It's about 2:30 here at the moment. I'm blasting some Deus Vail through my headphones (piano rock FTW!!). I'm halfway through my third vodka and Sprite (I had to improvise, but it's better than I expected). I'm waiting for my favorite RPs to get more posts (what can I say, I love creating stories). And I'm reading Homestuck when I'm not posting. (check it out [http://www.mspaintadventures.com/?s=6], it's pretty fantastic).

So fellow Escapists, how do you relax when your day didn't go your way? Or even when you had a fantastic day?

((I'm sure this has probably been done before, but search bar yielded nothing. So yeah, sorry if I'm stepping on any toes.))

Eh, I spend time with my boyfriend and/or listen to music.
Both help to make me relaxed, thankfully.
Not much else I can say, really, that is about it. Maybe watch a bit of animé if I am taking a break.

Any internet surfing or mindless video games will quickly help me forget anything I was upset about.

Red Guard? When did that happen? Nicely done though.

OT: Just talking with friends, listening to music, playing games, or if something stronger is needed, I take a painkiller.

When I'm stressed I tend to swear a lot and then take my frustrations out on something, usually games or people. I don't really know how to relax, I prefer to be energetic as much as possible.

I go home, mindlessly wander around on "The escapist", Put a Vincent D'Onofrio film/Law & Order: Criminal intent on in my DVD player (or "Twin Peaks" if I am in a quirky mood) and open up iTunes and listen to my Voltaire albums I will also maybe play a videogame I am currently engrossed in. Throw in a cup of tea and a meatfeast pizza and that's a perfect and relaxing evening for me.

Well my own methods aren't much different from yours. When I've had a rough/miserable day, at night I also head straight for the Headphones and booze, especially when combined together. Most times I just use the music, but a few shots of Whiskey on really bad days really helps numb everything else, but the music.

I also tend to think alot about the future and how I want to improve myself to acheive a happier me. :)
See, the big difficulty with thinking about the future right now is that I'm about a year out from graduating from university. Lot's of "nose to the grindstone" for about another three semesters. It's gonna be worth it in the end, but the short term kinda has me running in circles.

But I really hear you on the music. There's something about the emotional response that the tones and the lyrics bring. If you truly love it, it can be as intoxicating as any substance.

Not that the extra substances don't supplement the experience, of course. :p

I tend to put something easy to follow on, like Family Guy or How I met Your Mother, or sometimes Boston Legal, and lay down on my bed and halfwatch it. Not anime tho, cos its subbed, and half the time im not even looking at the screen. Thats only when im particularly exhausted.

If my girlfriend is available at that time, there will be hugging.

If not, and I just want to relax, I lay on my back (preferrably on a hard surface, like the floor), look at the ceiling and wait until every single muscle (well, except the vital ones, and those involved in waste removal) is relaxed. It doesn't take very long usually, and really helps.

Step 43) Profit!!! Relax

Like Grabbin Keelz said, pretty much any mindless video game does the trick for me. It also helps me deal with physical pain when necessary.

Either I take a nap, listen to some music, or take a walk. To be honest, though...it almost never works for me. I'm almost always constantly stressed. Makes me lose sleep. Heck, I had to miss work today because I only slept like an hour. I would have fallen asleep at the wheel if I had driven to work.

I play Osmos, devilishly tricky little puzzle game but my god is it relaxing. Sometimes I crack out my old copy of Rayman because I was one of the lucky sods who got the 60GB PS3 with backwards compatibility.

And should I be really stressed? I give Mary a quick kiss.

In order:
Practice doing tricks with a bo staff(which probably counts as exercise anyway judging by how much effort it takes to do), read, write stories or poems or whatever, watch comedy, go running or do exercise if it's pushing at my self control and I need to get it out my system, play games.

Although I find most games add to stress because of their nature of attempting to achieve a goal and bad moods making your ability to get that goal much worse, even something like mindcraft you find yourself overreacting to creepers or a lack of coal or something, most games have something to be annoyed at that normally you wouldn't think twice about.

I never relax. I am constantly tense and worked up over everything.

Frankly I'm not sure why anyone would want to be relaxed. You just KNOW as soon as you get fucking settled, shit is going to go down and you're not going to be prepared.

It's 11:41 am here now and I havn't slept in about 22 hours. I'm relaxed ok. Sure. Good.

I can't stop thinking. Once I start I just can't stop. I can't sleep, play games, read or do anything but think. What about? every-fucking-thing.

I can't, and I freakin' hate it. The last time I completely unwinded was about 3-ish years ago when we went to the beach for the first time in ages. I just dumped my ass on the sand, closed my eyes and felt all worries drift off. That's the only occasion ever I can remember truly relaxing.

That's very much true, I've been there... And not treating 2 broken knuckles is very erm, inconvenient, to say the least.
