How do you remember something?
Not everything in general, or anything in specific, but what weird or interesting ways do you remember something

For example, i go to a catholic school, and one week we had a quiz, we were told that we would have to recite the seven mortal sins from memory the next day, the next day came, and i was the only person who remembered more than 3. Little did my teacher know i spent the night before reading Full Metal Alchemist, and was only able to remember Envy, Lust, Gluttony, Wrath, Pride, Avarice, and Sloth because of the homonculi.

So, fellow escapist's, post you weird ways of remembering things

Huh...I usually think of something to put into a conversation 2 days later because I randomly remember it. It sucks...

Max, your avatar has been bugging me for a while. I kinda want to say that it's cute, but I don't know if it's a guy or a girl.

OP: +1 for anime helping us in school. I'm pretty sure I have some memory gimmicks, but for the most part my memory sucks. I have an easier time remembering memes and notable moments in anime than academics...

I forget a lot of things a lot of the time like where I am or what I was doing and occasionally my own name but it usually comes back right after I ask myself a question to do with what I've forgotten, problem is I sometimes ask the questions out loud in public areas and strange stares are had.

Not any that are conscious anyway.

I can often have a thought, forget it, and then be doing something (apparently) unrelated that brings it back.

As for my regular memory, I don't remember anything from birth to age nine, and my short term memory is atrocious.
If something makes it to my long-term memory, I will never forget it, though.
Heh same here, with a few memories from birth to age nine, but few.

Normally I just let it go through my head again and again and again until I find some sort of trick to help me out

Like for example I have a Chem test tomorrow and we have to draw hydro carbons. The trick to remembering the Akanes from the Alkenes from the Alkynes for me is A is first, so there is only 1 bond. E is next so it gets a double bonds and Y is third so it gets a triple bond

I just remember stuff after reading through it a few times. Repetition is really the only way I memorize anything education related. Everything else just kinda sticks with me and if its important, I always remember it. If not its destroyed from memory.

Actually I have terrible memory and often forget things only to randomly remember some of them. If something interests me, such as a word or phrase, I might begin to randomly recite it or put it into my vocabulary in place of the word or phrase it means.

I simply remember things. I don't need to use any memory techniques except in the most unusual circumstances. I generally just read things a few times, and it sticks. If something really interests me I only need to hear it once. Memory is probably my greatest strength.

I repeat what I want to remember the next morning to myself several times before going to sleep. The most commo nthing is the time I want to wake up. It usually works for me.

Besides that, though, I will only remember things when they are relevant to the context of the situation.

I have a command over a massive amount of thoroughly useless information. My thing is deciding what I'm gonna forget to replace with. Sadly, instead of this being said useless information, it usually ends up being whatever I was tested on before.

I try to teach somone or something which I am trying to remember. If I need to study for a test I'll usually give a lesson with my anime figures being my students.

Ms. Konata Izumi has perfect attendence so far.

I either stare at it until it feels important, or I use it over and over and over.
Sadly, the first method often backfires, as what I'm staring at actually loses importance.
So most of the time I resort to repetition.

I ask someone to remind me. It doesn't matter whether they actually do, the simple act of asking ensures I won't forget.

I remember just about everything. Not sure how. Also I get deja-vu all the time and remember nearly all my dreams.

I carry around a small notepad with me. When I need to remember something I write it down.

That's all I got. :[
