Hiya escapists.

I have been tasked with reading the saga of Olav the holy for a school project. I need to have read it by tuesday, so this has led to me reading quite intensely (Shut up, I'm taking a break...) and with reading comes sitting.
The problem with sitting down with a book is that I can't find a comfortable position to sit in while reading. I feel uncomfortable no matter what, and have to move around; not to mention my arms tiring from holding Heimskringla for hours on end.

This is why I come to you today, Escapists. I need advice by example:
How do you sit when you're reading? And are you comfortable?[sub]If you aren't comfortable, I won't be doing like you, duh.[/sub]

I usually read lying down on my bed.
If no bed is readily available, I lean the book on a table.

I usually lie on a bed that has a wooden thingy behind it. (You know what I'm talking about) It hurts as hell. Or I walk around. Maybe you should get a beanie or a more comfortable chair?

I'm always adjusting the way I sit, and when I finally get comfortable I have to get up and do something. I'm a very restless sleeper, and that transfers over to when I'm sitting. I envy the people who can just sit down and be comfortable.

In response to how I sit while reading. I don't really. I walk around when I read, or lay down on my bed. I find it painful to read while sitting, and it gives me a kink in my neck.

Usually laying on my bed. Alternating between lying on my front or sitting up with book perched on my legs.
Failing that reading in the bath is pretty much awesome.

A sofa or a couch. I can't read in anything else than that or I'll get uncomfortable too.

How people can read on a chair with the book on the table is beyond me :p

One word, toilet. Just kidding (well not really I do quite a bit of reading there, but I assume you mean non bathroom reading). Typically I will sit down on the couch or the recliner and prop one knee up in the air in front of me and rest the book on my knee. This also leaves the other hand free for beverage of your choosing (I prefer a nice whiskey if I am reading). Disadvantage to this sitting posture is that you may end up getting a bit sore on one cheek, so I recommend switching sides every time you refill your drink.

I usually sit with something in my lap to elevate the angle the book is at and so it's closer to the light. I also put my legs up and sit with one leg over my knee.

I miss my beanie bags. My kittens thought they were kitty litter, so we had to throw them out.

As for walking around: The book weighs 1.5 kilos (3 pounds).
While not the heaviest book ever, I still wouldn't want to carry it around in a reading position for hours.

I can't get comfortable reading while lying down. I have to have my face at some distance from the book, and this leads to me having to lift my chest off of the plane my book is lying on.
