How do you type the word 'minimum'?

Index and middle.
I used Dvorak last year sometime, and I started to get decent with it, and it was much faster then Qwerty. The main reason I didn't keep using it was because Source games didn't like the layout and I couldn't bind things in convenient places on my keyboard.

I do it in the way you describe as the "correct" touch-typing method, although I don't find the jump from M to U very awkward.

I alternate using my right index and my right middle finger. I found it's the most efficient way of writing "minimum". I don't think it's that hard...

Minimum? My index finger hits the M, N, and last U, my middle finger handles the I. Which... Huh, apparently that's "correct"? I wasn't taught touch-typing - my IT teacher briefly touched on the correct place to rest your hands, but aside from that, the class was all the boring stuff about "how to construct a webpage from the 80's using this outdated program we happen to have installed". I picked it up as most people do, I imagine, by learning the position of letters with muscle memory over time. So for "minimum", it's not like the supposedly "correct" method with which to type it doesn't come naturally for some people, despite how awkward it seems. Ah well.

I am not a conventional typer by any stretch of the word, but can still manage upwards of 90-100 WPM with good accuracy if I really try, and my leisurely typing is around 70. Not the best, but certainly not bad.

And so on. Just continue that pattern until the word is finished. One hand for each side of my keyboard, tend to only type with my three main fingers with the thumb to press the space bar.

My middle finger deals with the I and U while my index finger deals with the M and N.

I've never learnt to touch type or anything though, that's just how i happen to do it.

EDIT: Scratch that, i was mistaken. After more tries i find that i use my index finger to hit the U as well. I think. Gosh this is confusing...

1212111 where 1 is index and 2 is middle. I never learned a touch-typing system, I just got used to using all my fingers playing videogames in rooms so dark I couldn't see the keyboard. I type quite fast without looking but I don't think I could be a typist.

N.B. Just took a typing test where you transcribe a paragraph and got 67 wpm and 100% accuracy. I'm definitely a bit quicker when the words come out of my head though.

I type it entirely using my index finger at a relatively fast speed. In fact, the only other finger I use on my right hand whilst typing is the pinky finger and I use it exclusively to tap the Enter key.

If I'm just to type the word and nothing else before it, then it's:
Thumb, middle, pointer, middle, thumb, middle, thumb. All with my right.

However, if in a sentence, I type it:
Pointer, middle, pointer, middle, pointer, middle, pointer. All with my right, again.

Takes me maybe half a second to type it and feels natural. I'm a qwerty typist. Part of the advantage of that is I don't need to look at the keyboard ever if my fingers are where they should be, and that's good because most of the letters on my keyboard have worn off anyway. Not a problem at all when typing, but gaming can get frustrating.

I use my index finger for the M & N, and my middle finger for the I & U.

Now that I think about it, it's quite a fun word to try and type fast, almost like a Quick Time Event.

I taught myself to type at an early age (on a rubber keyed ZX Spectrum 48k) using my index, middle and third fingers, plus using my thumb for the space bar, and because of this I couldn't be taught the 'proper' method of typing at school, especially since we were taught using typewriters, which had seemingly exponential key resistance compared to my rubber keyed Spectrum (I could never hit the keys with enough force unless I used my method of typing).

Strangely though, when I just rest my fingers on the keyboard prior to typing, I do so in the 'proper' manner, putting the four fingers of each hand on the (A S D F) and (J K L keys, but then when I do type I do it my way.
