In fairness, that's the only reason I thought about it--someone brought it up.

I have no idea how I do it. At this point whenever I think about it (like I am doing right now) I slow down significantly. From what I gather I type with about 4-5 fingers across both hands, but favor my pointers above all else. Basically I type totally incorrectly, but know the keyboard like the back of my hand and rarely need to look down at it. For how poor my technique is I type fairly quickly and with high accuracy. I do occasionally look at the keyboard, but that's more out of habit than anything else. If I force myself I can type near-perfectly with two fingers only and my eyes glued to the screen.
Just because it's you, I picture tentacles sprouting from your wrists when you're not thinking about it.

I use a modified touch typing using mostly my right index finger and thumb, then my middle and ring fingers to hit shift, along with my index, middle, and ring finger on my left hand.

That is unless I really get in the zone, in which case I use all ten fingers to type pages in minutes.

I just typed a 1000+ word RP post without thinking of my typing once and hammered it out pretty quickly. I think you're on to something.

I type with my fingernails with my hands at traditional keys in a slanted position, yet I barely use every single one of my fingers, especially the pinkies unless I was in the middle of eating something... At most, I use 3 fingers with a thumb to hold down SHIFT key if needed as well as typing at the speed of doing 1 full, 12-font, Times New Roman, double-space page in under 5 minutes without distractions, but in under 2 if going from pencil to text... I switch between looking at my fingers type and looking at the letter turn into word on the screen naturally to the point that it's all second nature to me...

Other than that, when it comes to "typing" with a controller/remote, I can still amaze people at how fast I could do that in general... Also, I wish my old joke from middle school about making USB keyboards the size of a blackberry still had some relevance in this day and age...

It seen I can type with 1-3 fingers (maybe even 4 or 5 as I can used my pinky a couple of times) on each hands and I can type without looking at the keyboard aswell but not all the time (if depends if I'm typing care free or under pressure like those typing speed test).

I use my Index, Middle and Thumb on my left hand and only my Index finger on my right hand. It kinda looks a bit weird now that I'm a bit more aware of it.

To self taught myself a steady form of touch typing when I was in high school and college to get my assignments done faster. I'm no stenographer or anything that high level but I do okay.

I've tried to type some things whilst looking at my fingers. This has thaught me two things. 1. Whilst I use all of the fingers on my left hand, my right hand pretty much only uses the index finger. 2. I was unsure about the names of the various fingers in english. Whilst I guessed all of them correctly, I did have to look them up to be sure.

My left pink for the left shift key and on rare occasions my right pink or ring finger for the right shift key. My left thump for the space bar, my right index finger for keys on the right of the letters g, t and v (on a qwerty) and my left index, ring and middle finger for keys on the keys g, t and v and those to the left of them.

Actually, I type basically like they teach you in school. I'm not very fast and have to look when I input numbers but for what I have to do at work, it gets the job done. I did take a class in high school, but then didn't realy tyupe again until I really started doing work with the computers at work.
People teach you to type in school? When was that? Being a long time pc-gamer, forum visitor and having written many essays for my education I pretty much picked up the location of the keys myself. I actually thought this was something everyone just taught themselves. I suppose it is something you have to be thaught if you don't spend so much time on computers (or typewriters, if you are old) so it is understandable that courses on the matter exist.

]I use two fingers, one on each hand. Three when holding the shift key. With that said I type pretty fast with them.

I usually don't pay attention to how I type. Looking at my hands now, I apparently have my left thumb pressing against the bottom of the keyboard, locking one hand in place, and my right hand hovering above the keyboard.

We did learn to type with all our fingers in school, but I never got used to it so I just stuck with two.
I used to type with two fingers like that but eventually as I typed more the rest of my left hand did get involved. Maybe at some point I'll use all fingers.

With one single digit, like a fucking chimp.

Unless I need to use caps, then I use... another finger.

After observing my fingers for a little bit while typing I've come to the conclusion(random rambling just for extra observation) that I more or less use all my fingers. My index fingers seem to take care of most of the letters, while the other ones are assigned to the surrounding buttons. My natural resting position is WSAD with the left hand and the right lies ready to press whatever. Guess I'm damaged from all years of playing games.

I type fast as hell though and have often heard comments about it. Once I accidently got some of my keyboard clattering on a recording and it did indeed sound like I'm just randomly bashing on the keys... This skill actually comes from World of Warcraft. I always felt the need to respond to people immedietly, even if I was in combat at the time, so I had to type really fast so I wouldn't die. Took a while before my replies weren't a complete mess.

Mostly relying on the first two fingers of both hands with my left thumb for the space bar and left and right pinky for the Shift, depending of which side the character is I'm trying to capitalize. Right pinky for the Enter.

No idea how fast I type since I type slower in English then I do my native language, but overall I don't type that fast. I can type without having to look at my keyboard, but do still need to see what I'm typing on screen.

With both hands. But not in any classically correct way. First wo or three fingers of each hand, right thumb for the spacebar and usually the ring finger to engage the shift. I have to search to find the enter key but I can almost touch type.

I'm slow though. Maybe 30 wpm.

I never used computers until I was maybe 16 (I'm 22 now). And even then, I never really typed. Just about none of my school or college assignments required me to use printouts, so I've been handwriting most of my life.
I'm saying all this mainly to justify the fact that I type like an idiot. I use my two index fingers for everything except spacebar and shift, which are thumb jurisdiction. Sometimes my middle finger sees a bit of action. And I have to constantly look at the keyboard so I know where the letters are. Sometimes it takes me a while to figure out where grammatical symbols are (trying to find tilde was fun).

I'm trying to make a conscious effort to type faster though, as I imagine typing is gonna be a pretty essential skill for me someday.

I go at about 110wpm and use all eight fingers - not much room on the keyboard for my thumbs too. Though, to be fair, I do tend to stick with just four unless I'm really in a hurry or really into what I'm writing. Or is it six? I'm actually struggling to count which of my fingers I'm actually using.
That's weird, man.

Also apparently I type really loud. Like. Can't hear me on a Skype call if I'm typing because I go thundering away, but I dunno how else I'm meant to type.

I taught myself to touch type about a year and a half ago, so use the whole "eight fingers along the home row while thumb chills on the spacebar" deal.
Never managed to learn how to use the top row of number keys with this method though, they just always feel like they're too far away. But working in an accountancy firm for the last 10 months meant a lot of typing numbers, so learning to use the number pad without looking turned out to be a lot more useful anyway.

I type basic style you learn in school. Don't need to look at keyboard, type around 130wpm.

Touch-typing 4 LYFE. Most useful class I ever took in junior high. About the only digit I don't really make use of is my left thumb, but I'll very occasionally use it to hit the space bar if my right hand is busy with the number pad or something.

I peck at the keyboard with my right hand. Sometimes I use both hands resting on the home row but I'm faster if I do it "the wrong way". That usually explains my errors too.
