I really don't see that many ads on the site (not that I'm complaining!). Truly, the only advertisement for an outside site I've seen is for Red Faction...

Do sites that are similar to Red Faction just pay a significant amount, because they're the only people being advertised, and thus get a huge amount of traffic? Are there ads in some place I'm not seeing? Is most of the money coming from the store? (I doubt that one... I didn't know there was a store until I was looking for a source of income...) Do the games that get reviewed pay for the right to have their game reviewed?

Can any light be shed on this for me?

advertising... the more popular the site is, the more they can charge for a slot... and thus they make millions from one advertisement slot... and that my boy is economics...

(note: what i have just said is not economics and is probably not true, all who take advice from this have been warned and i am not responsable for loss of money, or a corportate take over, or being fired for lack of compitence)

Why does it matter?
It doesn't. I was just curious how it could afford server fees, much less the wages of the people who work for it, with just one site being advertised. I realize that less ads = more cash per ad, and more visitors = more money per ad, but I have trouble believing one or two adverts can pull that much cash.

Adverts is the only logical conclusion as they do not ask for a subscription fee for forum membership.
Ive never come across a games site which does this! lol. Gamespot has their 'premium' thing, but thats all i can think of.
