It's gotta be the people. They are the cause of the problems online, so all the annoyance is attributed to them.

The fact that we have a world spanning, ethereal construct which allows for near instant communication and the transmission and storage of vast amounts of data, and yet it consists mostly of advertisements I don't want and didn't ask for. And if it's not intrusive adverts, it's the disproportionate number of links directing traffic to a relatively narrow number of sites. I'm told the internet is huge, but it feels like I always end up at the same couple dozen sites.

It's like you're invited to an orgy, but when you get there, all there is three other guys having a circle jerk. Kinky, but not exactly varied.

Fanboys/fangirls. Not "fans," but "zealots," too in love with their favorite things to acknowledge their flaws.

I love Final Fantasy 6. If you asked me to name its flaws, I'd name them. Because I'm not a fanboy.

And I'm in the minority on the internet.

I would say everything, but that would be too much, so the most I hate the mainstream crap which is fed to the youth (14-16) and then these people tell you the horrible jokes in RL until you could tell them after being drunk and high. But also I would say: Every dumbass has a internet connection so any fuckwit could read up quotes and then furthermore annoy you in RL. Also wikipedia, anyone reads up informations about anything and then acts like a professional about anything but ultimately knows nothing about anything. Don't get me wrong I kinda like the quick avaibility of information but I would really like to see people read for example the book they talk about

The use of Internet Explorer for one.
OT: The hate on internet explorer. It's only failed me once, and when I tried FireFox directly after I removed the virus, it failed in the exact same way on the exact same site. Havn't had a problem with IE since, and I use it exclusively. So there!

That, and everything everyone else said.

People who have English skills of a second grader
Complaining
"I have lost faith in humanity"
Blatant trolling
False links
Moderators who refuse to get off their high horse
Thread topics that have been done to death

-Grammar nazis.

-People who insist on using the proper names for everything when there are easier, time saving, or more widely understood alternatives.

I get mad whenever I google image an anime character that I may like to cosplay as, I have to sift through about 14 yaoi drawings before I find a good image to base my costume off.
also annoying, ignorant, 13 year olds who argue with everyone.
and unironic trolls.
and finally, people who blindly hate all religion for no reason.

My opinion is RIGHT and if you disagree with me, you're a fucking idiot who is a troll. Also, my opinion is the be all end all of opinions. If I say that band is shit, they are SHIT and obviously don't play their own music because I said so.

Also, I don't kow who I hate more out of haters or fanboys. We could do without both though.

Ah, yes. Given that I'm not a teacher, before the internet I didn't have to suffer through the atrocious spelling and grammar found OTI. In that vein:

Thank you, so very very much- I saw that once and could never find it again, no more annoying grammatical errors for me, it's all in one place!
Most welcome. His book is full of hilarious little comics like these. There's a particularly good one that explains the process of turning milk into cheese (random, I know) that's ended many a drunken debate about cheese.

[HEADING=3]People who post in the comment sections of news articles are pretty low on the list of people I would save from a burning theater.[/HEADING]

I hate them so much.

In the real world, the person who acts like a real world troll or who insists on bursting into conversations they know nothing about incurs a cost that usually stops them from doing it again. Not so on the web. Barring true academic sites or very limited environments, the stupid and crude and zombie drives out anything sensible.

All the flame wars over stupid things piss me off. Also a lot of the things people say online that they would never be brave enough to say face to face.

The fact that everything I open on google search results in porn, even IF I use safe search, it's everywhere. Nothing quite like opening a google image looking for a picture of a Sangheili to use on a forum and suddenly needing to have your eyes waxed.

The fact that people keep disappearing from Facebook. It makes keeping regular contact really hard.

The aggressive nature of a lot of people, especially about political issues.

I'll go ahead and play devil's advocate by saying that I dislike people who "hate the idiocy and ignorance that anonymity brings." (Well, the trolls anyways. I won't comment on cyberbullies.) Allow me to clarify a few points:
-No, we aren't nice.
-No, we aren't politically correct.
(And most importantly)
-No, we don't care about you.

Believe me when I say that I'm not trying to exalt the internet troll as some kind of avatar towards a more enlightened human being. We go in with the full intention of messing up somebody's game, day, or week. And if we could pull it all off in real life, we would. (There are several reasons why I keep a multitool on my person at all times.) Why? One word: schadenfreude. The act of gaining happiness from another's misfortune. It's a psychological element of every person's psyche. Trolls just happen to enjoy it more than some others, or perhaps trolls are more in tune with this element. Ever enjoyed watching a car crash (for any reason, televised or real)? Congratulations, you're a terrible person. Ever gotten a smile from seeing a speeder getting pulled over after rocketing past you a mile ago? Well, to that guy getting the ticket, you're an asshole. It's all relative anyways, so why not use the advent of modern technology to get away with those "assholish" tendencies. Better to let it out via a little bit of teamflashing over CSS or vulgar internet posts over an internet forum than letting it build up into something worse, right?

Again, trolls aren't nice people. But anyone who complains about trolls might as well complain about how wet they get whenever it rains. Trolls are just a part of the internet ecosystem.

Here's a little song that might put my point across a little better: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9B-ZoS0wvU
