In comics nowadays it sometimes seems like the authors are trying to push the characters to the limits of story-telling. By this I mean more powerful antagonists some that threaten the very fabric or reality; Time, space, this universe and others. But that brings to mind the question, how far is too far? I mean it makes for a great story but how can you possibly go any further when you see that the Hero's were able to defeat an enemy capable of annihilation on a God-like scale. Would this make their other adventures seem more bland in comparison or would the story make up for it?

A good example of this would be; Crisis on Infinite Earths

I give you superman, a hero who is incredibly vanilla and uninteresting. Red Sun on the other hand is a very interesting idea.

My point is how the hero is handled decides it, powers and everything else are wholly irrelevant in the face of story quality.

They've been doing that for decades.

Blame Superman. The man practically IS a God.

As for too far... its too far when you have non-god characters fighting god characters. Come on, teamwork only gets you so far.

Anyone that can fly with out mechanical assistance is too far for me. I kind of like heroes to be actual men like the punisher.
