How good is your eyesight? Can you see a difference in various graphics?

Ah, is that what it is? Thought it was just resolution. People swear it looks normal to them, but it drives me nuts.
Yes, on my Sony it's called Motionflow and CineMotion, under the Motion menu.

I hate this kind of stuff. Grain replaced with fake guesstimated details that soften the whole image, and fake frames added to make it appear to move more smoothly. Because people who buy fancy new TVs want everything to look new. Some of the same people who want movies to fill their TVs and like having the black bars cropped away and the image zoomed.

Some more grain management:

Gross. It's less detailed than the blurry but grainy anamorphic 720x480 DVD version. Yet everybody likes the video. Shows you why most people's TV settings are so screwed up.

Yup, I'm pretty sensitive to these things. I notice differences in resolution very easily. Oftentimes I am questioning why something isn't playing at a particular resolution and trying to fix it while my girlfriend hasn't even noticed yet. In my own experience and based on no evidence whatsoever, I have found that a lot of women in my life are the same in this regard. Girlfriend, mom, and sister will all happily watch a standard definition movie/show and not even realize it.

Same for FPS. I want that shit smooth and with big numbers or I'm not happy.

If you are talking about framerate, eyesight is irrelevant; observation skills is what makes the difference.
