How has a game POSITIVELY affected your life?

Believe it or not World of Warcraft has made me a bit more of a social person.

For something that is considered anti-social and frowned upon by most normal people, i have meet many new real life friends because of it. I have found it to be a good conversation starter and a good way to establish a relationship.
For example, there was a guy tat i used to go to school with but didn't have anything to do with at the time, not because we didn't like each other, but because we just didn't hang around with each other. He then came to the school i am now studying at and because he was friends with one of my friends, we began to talk and discovered that we both played WoW. We are now very close friends, and i owe it all to Blizzard Entertainment.

Also Mass Effect(1 & 2), Dragon Age and Knights of the Old Republic all taught me new things about myself and what type of person i really am. Bioware are the best storytellers of all time.

Metro 2033 made me more open minded.

How so?

The games wants you to learn as much as you can about the game world and its inhabitants, the entire games is based around that idea, the games "good" ending has you sparing the enemy you set out to destroy in the beginning of the game after you learn they aren't evil, you get the good ending by slowing down and observing the world, things like listneing to Nazis talk about how much they miss their families and not killing them net you good enlightenment points, in the end you end up throwing away you preconceived notions in favor of what you learned by being open minded.

OT: Half Life 2, because coupled with the aforementioned subject it's what most people know Nintendolover222 for: deep, action packed fanfiction. The Half Life series is ideal for writing about because it hasn't yet been concluded which allows people to showcase some delicious speculation, and as Anarchemitis said on page one...

What does one do with HL2 fiction that has never seen the light of day? I have twenty pages of some pretty good shit, at least relative to my other shit.

Dynasty Warriors 4 got me interested in history. Initially Asian history then American. Now I'm 1 semester away from my Bachelors in history.

I play videogames since I was 4 years old. I'm from Brazil, so my mother translated the instructions and game messages the best way she could. However, I quickly learned the limitations of her English vocabulary, so I realized that is up to ourselves to learn, accept and comprehend foreign languages in order to improve our communication and understanding of other people. I believe that helped me learn English very fast (and enough to consider myself fluent in it), become aware of such communication differences between people, and even motivated me into learning as many languages as I can (I understand Spanish, a little bit of Italian, and I'm currently learning Japanese). I'm sure games will, once again, help me achieve this goal. There are many other things I think videogames helped me with, but I need to wrap up this post now. Gotta finish some work.

its really opened me up alot more and i think situations through a ton ton ton ton more now, i nearly always have advice or tackle things with success from observing all possibilities and outcomes for whatever i am doing at the moment.
