Mine stays at around 40 centigrade at idle, but has been known to reach 63 degrees under load.

Oh baby, it gets so hot!

I'm not quite sure, though. My storage/work computer is ok; it has about three fans and they keep it cool. This computer, the gamer, is a beast, though. It has five fans and still would be better off if I immersed it in liquid nitrogen.

Well, the laptop I use is terrible for this, it can overheat simply doing something like talking on MSN (i'm not even joking). I recently found that I can avoid it by putting a DVD box underneith the laptop and balancing the laptop (precariously) on top, so that the little vent things underneith have room to breathe, and then having a fan standing up next to the desk pointing directly at the laptop on highest fan speed. But any less than this and I can expect it to overheat.

It's shit.

It's not by any chance a dell is it? I see that a lot with those.

Exchange the DVD case for 4 DVD cases and put it on the corners - you get more stability, and if you position them properly should be giving things like the battery a chance to cool down a bit more.

Anyway, *takes off work hat* I'm not meant to be helping people for free.

My computer is so hot when it stresses out and when it overheats it makes loud noises that can be heard well outside the room it's in. It will always get really hot and strain with effort when it's trying really hard but it always finishes what it started and usually with great success, then it needs to rest.

In other words... it functions very much like my love partner BAAAZIIING!!

My system operates at a steady 74 degrees centigrade on the processor. So far no burnouts, but I'm afraid to power down the system lest being cold for a while makes it freak out.

Alright, unless you're doing some crazy overclocking, all three of you need to pay a visit to the office supply store and buy a can of compressed air. Blow out all the dust from yer damn heatsinks!

my laptop gets pretty damn warm that my jeans will still be warm half an hour after I am done with it. So I usually take a short break from whatever it was I was doing before resuming my business, or grab a box fan and crank it on high not to far from me. Cools the laptop and me so it is two birds with one stone.
