How I Converted To The PC
It seems that a lot of people keep going over to the consoles these days, and so I'd like to at least give a somewhat encouraging tale of how I recently became a PC player.
Humble Beginnings
It all started with a little program called Steam. Personally, I simply had it because I would use it to talk to a friend that refused to talk any other way. Then I started to notice all the little offers in the store. I had a lot of these games for the 360, but these seemed so much cheaper, and it seemed my computer was capable of playing them. Nervously, I eventually bought Half-Life, and played it, and was rather happy with it.
Little did I know, that I would eventually go down deeper.
A Blessing In Disguise
My Fallout 3 disk broke for the 360, and I was stuck without an RPG to play for quite a while. I felt I couldn't go back to Oblivion, as I had brutally raped it, and left all the characters in it for dead. And Fable 2 was a bit out of the question since I played the first one and was left with a "Nah" reaction. So, I ended up looking for Fallout 3 in the PC section, and to my gratefulness, here was Fallout 3, with all the DLC, neatly wrapped together for fifty dollars.
I bought it, and installed it on my computer, then realized something else...
The Mods Win My Heart
No, not moderations, but modifications. Fallout 3's mods I had always read about, the mods for Fallout 3 via the Escapist's very own Shamus Young. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/columns/experienced-points/6389-Experienced-Points-Mods-Playground] I searched, and found weapon modification kits, new quests, new maps, new armor, new everything, and then I searched for other games, and found many, many more mods that filled my heart's desires.
Skills like a Ninja
Surprisingly, the transition from controller to keyboard and mouse was fast. My shots were lined up much quicker, my jumps were much better, and overall, everything just seemed better on the computer.
In Short, I went from gaming on this...
