Myself, I find I can get totally involved in my games.

I remember back when I got Half-Life. Sitting there playing it on a saturday in August. I heard a loud crash, it startled me. I though "better go check that out" because I couldn't tell where it came from, inside or outside the house. I didn't forget about it, but it did go to the back of my mind. I just kept playing my game.

My house is about 200 feet from the Highway. When my sister got home about a half hour later, she asked me about the wreck. "What wreck?" They were still extracting the passengers from the car.

So how immersed do you get? Please share your stories.

Very. Once I start playing a game, I don't usually emerge for a good while.

One of the funnier examples of this was when I first got San Andreas. I played that for hours on end before I went away to visit my family for Christmas. The thing is, though, that, when we were driving there (and it's a four hour drive), and I was watching the scenery pass outside my window, every time I saw a glint of purple spray painted on a wall, I got the sudden urge to go spray, "Grove Street" over it. XD

There have been so many nights where I've stayed up late, sneaking around a dark creepy cave in a video game, waiting for something to jump out at me, when, suddenly, a window in my room will creak and, for a split second, I'll swear I've been caught by the guards in real life.

But I get very sucked in to video game worlds. To be honest, one of the games that drew me in more than any other was SSX3. One of the most Zen experiences I've ever had while gaming was having a perfect run down from the peak of the big mountain to the very bottom of the slope. I don't think I've ever become so in-sync with a game before or since, which is kind of weird, and yet very nifty at the same time.

I can get immersed very quickly in some games...depending on the style of games, I found myself immersed in Fallout 3, Obilvion, Daggerfall, Team Fortress(I will randomly say such and such is a spy!), But really, lately it's been hard to find a game to be totally immersed in for me. I find myself sometimes going a little overboard with Rock Band.

Usually I get into Rpgs the most they can just suck you in, especially if the main character is someone that you create. Or the mute main characters, because it gives you freedom to think for them you can say.

I get immersed a lot in games though, I try to soak in as much as I possibly can and in the process I almost become one with the game. That could be why I started calling my mom "moms" after playing GTA: SA.

Depends on the game, but typically very immersed. Most immersed? ...well, I hate to bring the game up so much, but probably A Drug That Makes You Dream.

As an example, during the Aeka route, I became afraid, genuinely afraid that something was going to happen to her. That dread persisted on most of the later days, until I could actually get to school in the morning and confirm with relief that she was safe and hadn't been attacked or anything like that. Granted, it was always minor moments of relief before finding out what was going to happen later. When I was attacked and hospitalized by some of the bullies in the classroom and couldn't see her for two days, I was deathly worried about what was happening to Aeka...and rightly so, since the next time I saw her I <color=white>arrived just in time to keep her from jumping off the school roof.

I've played many games that made me feel frustrated. I've only played one game that made me feel helpless.

I used to do hardcore 6 hour sessions on new games, but since going to college (it's like high school but I actually give a shit about what I'm learning!) I usually only play for at most an hour. I can't really get that immersed in an hour, especially in an apartment with 3 other guys coming in and out.

Books on the other hand...I go off into my own little world. Even at 19, I get fully immersed in the book world and don't notice anything at all going on around me.

I still call everybody chief, like Morte from Planescape: Torment

I actuallyt get really involved in most of my games. For example when I attempted to play Bioshock on hard, I ended up beating it in one sitting and realizing that about 10 hours had passed from when I started playing.

Utterly immersed, to the point where I will lose myself in the atmosphere of the lovely digital worlds.

This is especially relevant for games like Oblivion, Fallout 3, Bioshock etc...

I knew it was getting bad when I passed a lawnmower shop and instinctively thought 'oh, I need to get a blade for my shishkebab'.

That was a true nerd moment.

Well I get very emotionally connected with my character, if that counts.

Usually ends up in a lot of wasted ammo spent on the dead bodies of people who double cross me.

I immerse the shit out of myself. It's easier with great games, but I noticed that even if a game isn't that good (and I don't play games that are utter crap), I still try to get envolved with everything. Same with books.

put it this way, my mum can screem, shout or even hit me and i can still just stare at the screen concentrating on what i am doing until she eventually pulls the plug... Even then all i can do is stare at the blank screen thinkng,"where has my game gone?"

I absolutely hate it when I've started playing a game in the morning, finally get off, realize it's four in the afternoon on a day with a high of 27 degrees & I've wasted an entire fucking beautiful day!
27 degrees? isn't that a little cold? (It's Celsius, you idiot!) Oh, right.

For me, It's not the weather that I feel I missed out on. It's the girls.

I dont get immersed in games. I still find them fun, but i just find it really hard to get immersed. I always know its a game in my head, and not even bioshock is immersing me at the moment at 12 at night with the lights off.
Now that's saying something!

Depends what the game is. If it's a good RPG (Fallout), then yes, it's very easy. Most other games manage to get me immersed aswell. Other games (no example, sorry) just don't cut it for me.
