How is Fable 2 so bad?

Everytime I think about this I just get angry. How can you take such a great game like The Lost Chapters and ruin almost every aspect of it for the sequel.

The Engine is worse, the graphics, believe it or not, are worse. The plot is bland and uninteresting in comparison and the gameplay is just mashing the same damn button over and over. They removed all the cool armor sets that allowed you to customize your character however you wanted, good or evil, or a mix. Most of the "Clothing" looks really dumb on my character.

The Plot is what annoys me the most tbh, Fable/TLC had a perfect plot, you had a rival, you had many different heroes, helping and hindering you, every quest was somewhat interesting because of the choices. Every quest stuck in my mind, The Arena, The White Balverine, The Bandit King, The Prison.

Walking around is frustrating because my character will get stuck on shit that's not even there, or slow down over a tiny little hill, or get caught on a rock.

And lastly(I'm sure I've forgotten some things), THE BUGS, holy shit I'm usually oblivious to most bugs because they are small, but I've had to restart my Xbox 4 times since I started because it froze(And I've never had these issues before).

Do Lionhead listen to their fanbase? Everyone I spoke to before and after I played the game thought exactly the same thing, yet they are carrying on from the sequel rather then going back to the basics and using the game that was actually good.

Alright rant over.

Extra credit question, does anyone know how to get a digital download for Fable: TLC(for PC). I had the discs a while ago but lost them due to carelessness. It's not on Steam and I couldn't find it at EB games.

could try the area of water mostly surrounded or otherwise demarcated by land, inhabited by scoundrels and scallywags, but free men all.

If you don't get it, I'm not explaining it further.

OT, yeah, I hated Fable 2, but liked Fable 1. Once I cooled my rage over Molyneux's broken promises for Fable 1, I found it to be a half decent game for its generation, and was hoping Fable 2 would deliver on those points that Molyneux promised in Fable 1 but failed to deliver on.

And then it just seemed like they had accepted Fable 1 as a rousing success and used that as the base of Fable 2. Big mistake IMO. Fable 1 was passable, but they really screwed the pooch in Fable 2.

I can't say, i only played the first one. I guess it could be cos Molyneux always talks out his ass about things that are never there

I enjoyed both games...

I found them both charming and fun. Thats what i expected after the first one and the second one was just that for me.

My only gripe was that is wasnt long enough... it took 5 playthroughs for me to be through :)

EDIT: And i partially agree with Xzi: Black and White is the best thing lionhead as done. And that was a Looooong time ago.

I wish I had more to say but I've only played and enjoyed the first one. You really do have take everything ol' Peter says about his games and turn it down a lot.

He does shoot for the stars though, which I suppose should be lauded.

I fucking love Fable 2.

Then again, I had low expectations. And it exceeded all of them.

But still, the loading. Dear god, the loading.

I enjoyed both games, the only thing in Fable 2 i disliked was Theresa's "evil" side that was to be inferred. Though i liked the money and the combat systems, as well as the story. Granted it was not the best story it was good enough to keep me to play through it 2 or 3 times and still enjoy it. Fable 1's story was better, but i found the combat much more tedious and annoying. Also the lack of a real final boss really pissed me off in the second game.

i dunno i liked fable 2 but i'm a biased source 'cos besides gears of war 2 it was my introduction to the 360 and i couldn't get enough of it, it had it's share of problems but for me it was just right with the story and combat. Not my favourite game at all, just not that bad :/

Fable 2 was somewhat enjoyable at best. Really it was a pathetic game and I'm annoyed at how many awards it's gotten.

I enjoyed the original on PC for a while. It wasn't what I would call a great game but it was good enough. Fable 2 bored the hell out of me. Too much childish story book narrative and not enough actual good gameplay. I suppose it might be a good game for kids but they lost whatever appeal it had for me.

The thing about Fable 2 is that it was a good game but any game would suffer when it turns out (unsurprisingly) to fail to live up to Molyneux's (the master of lies) hype.

I had fun with it beat it and traded it in. I'm thinking of renting it just to see how much cash randomly pops up. I mean I was making it in $30 000 intervals, I'm gonna break the bank

It was not what i believed it was going to be.
The way it was put forth the multiplayer was much different than I expected

just like spore.....who seemed like was supposed to have multiplayer but of course not. Why would i just want to play with other peoples creations anyway.

Aparently (though this may be just to promote the product) the developers weren't even trying on Fable II and meant for it to be filler for Fable III. Who knows? Maybe III will be better but I agree with the OP, I was really disappointed with Fable II, and I never played the first because I didn't have an X-box so I was really excited to learn the sequel was coming to a console I owned, only to run into almost all the OP's problems (I didn't notice many bugs though)

It's simple really. With Fable2, molyneux just wanted a toy that the casual crowd could play with, so it ended up a worse game than Fable TLC.
