At my school we devoted a month to it in the grade it was taught. We learned all about the policies, that the US had on it, about the French's failing in that area and basically just wiping their hands of it and saying Im done with this now kthnxbai, about the way it changed the perception of war and culture in the US and the world. How it tied in with the Cold War nd all that jazz. and there's no glorifying it either, like, "oh yeah, we lost the war, but we put up a good fight." Oh no, we learn about getting our ass handed to us, and we saw what would probably now be considered war crimes.Speakercone said:Hmm, how do they teach the vietnam war in America? I imagine it depends which schoolboard is buying the textbooks.

OT: I imagine somewhat matter of factly as if it say yea it happened, but with an underlying message of the US took it to far and some feigning innocence look they didnt deserve to have it happen.
But of course thats comming from a biased source after I was over there and the Japanese werent very hospitable and decided to criticize the US school system. I guess they think in the states we're taught we're the greatest country ever and no other country is worth enough to lick the shit from our boots or soemting. But thats just the people I met.
