Here' what I just found out: the "popular" Fast&Furious movie series is getting yet another sequel---without the "furious" part. How is this series still making any money? How? And why do we need it?

For Discussion Value: Which movie/game did you think did not need a sequel, let alone one being even possible.

NOTE: The movie might be good, but I doubt it.

There's Fast Five, and then there is also another xXx movie that is apparently going to be made.

This shouldn't be possible, as <spoiler=xXx spoilers>Xander Cage dies.

But yeah, good on Vin Diesel for making money off of these movies. Good on him...

Because Vin Diesel racing is awesome.

I didnt think tron needed a rebooting. But I'm gonna get a a lot of crap for that.

So instead, I didnt hink Transformers needed a sequel. Or really most any movie. thats the problem with hollywood. They're afraid to do something new.

EDIT:

Maybe so, but Shaak Ti died in the extra scenes of Star Wars Episode III, but she "officially" died in ST: Force Unleashed

I think I can answer the How and the Why.

The dumb, suburban "tuner" crowd who fantasize about being illegal street racing legends are still, sadly existant. And these movies cater to that crowd.

Alternately people who really really like cars like the movies.
It certainly can't be for the in depth story or compelling three-dimensional characters.

I personally don't think Bayformers needed a sequel, or two.
Or Garfield, it didn't even need the first movie.
Or Avatar, the story's closed, there doesn't need to be another one.
Or Shrek 4.

Yeah, that list could go on.

It makes money because it has fast cars and races, explosions, muscle bound bald guys beating people up, attractive women, and the occasional lesbian couple making out. The perfect formula for a hit at the box office.

A shame movies like this make hundreds of millions while Scott Pilgrim and others like it bomb, but the studios are working with a time proven formula guaranteed to grant monetary success. They know what brings in the money and milk it for all its worth.

Haha I can't believe that's a real movie.

I could of lived without the God of War sequels. The end of the first one was such an epic and satisfying conclusion to such a well crafted game who's financial success was capitalized on,can't blame a business for being a business. Not to say I didn't enjoy the other two games there really well made but the first one will forever be considered a classic to me while two and three are merely shadows of its greatness.

Because all the douche bag ricers that think they're hardcore because they play Initial D and wear G-Star love this shit. It gives them a purpose in life. "Oh, that's why I spent more on my 1992 Honda Civic's headlights than on the car itself."

Seeing this movie makes them feel like they're part of some illegal sub-culture. Which makes as much sense as me watching Kick-Ass and thinking I'm a superhero. Then buying a full armored suit. And walking around in it. Yeah.

Know where I found out about this? One of them gushing about it on Facebook. So annoying.
