The students at Audy knew about the bomb plot way before the teachers did. There have been police and reporters all over the college for aaages

The day they were actually planning to blow up the school/college may have been the 10-year anniversairy of the Columbine disaster and Hitler's birthday, but it was also a day that the whole school wasn't in. They were esentially going to be blowing up an empty high school/college and a shopping centre.

We also had a teacher arrested for having sex with a student about a month ago XD

From the sounds of the article, it seems to already be well established that the intent was to copycat other incidents. There really isn't another reason to blame anything else other than morbid fascination and a disturbed mind.
