I have the original PS3 60 gig BC Fat sat in my front room and it still runs perfectly, no problems at all and it gets used almost everyday, so no complaints from me.

Reading the posts above me it appears the 60 gig worked well for most people, shame it was the only one with BC.

I had an original PS3 for about 3 years with no problems, then I traded it in for a slim, which I've had for three years with no major issues, although I think the disc drive may be starting to have some issues because it sometimes fails to register that certain games are in the disc slot.

I pre-ordered mine, and I picked it up on release day. It still runs fine, never had any trouble with it, despite hearing a lot about the first generation having problems.

I got my first PS3 in November of 2007, one of the last available 60GB units. It gave me the YLOD last year around October, so it lasted for almost five years (sent it in to Sony for repairs). There were times when I would go without even turning it on for months, and other times I would play for 2-3 hours everyday (5-6 hours on weekends).

I'm on my second PS3 and I've had it for about a year now, no problems with it, and its running fantastically.

My original I got on Black Friday of 2009, and worked well for 18 months, but it failed because my then year and a half old son next it down onto a tile floor from about 4 feet up. Now the thing worked perfectly on all but three of my games after that. Those three games were Metal Gear Solid 4, Final Fantasy 13, and Uncharted 3. Interestingly all three of those games require all 7 of the usable cells in the processor, so the general thought is that somehow, when my son knocked the damn thing over he busted part of the processor so that at least on of them wasn't working. But for fuck sake, if the rest of the games ran fine without any issue, that showed me that the damn system was built to last.

I suspect I got mine in '07... it's a 40gb model.

No problems, still going strong. Even survived having a dog power-slide into it which sent it tumbling across a hardwood floor.

I got mine about 3 or so years ago, it is a slim 120GB edition, it has seen alot of use and a decent amount of abuse but still works like the day I got it. the only issues I ever encountered involved an issues with my internet, but that was easily fixed. it still runs great and i have easily put 40 or so games through it and several thousand hours of play.

I got mine in 2009, and the beast is going insanely strong. I'm surprised at the lack of people who have major problems. I was seriously expecting some major sob stories like the people in the Xbox camp. :-D

[small]No, I'm not against the Xbox. I like it as a console, but MS' business policies can die in a fire.[/small]

I got mine in september of 07, 60gb fat boy, it's going on 6 years now with no major issues, the only thing i did was upgrade the hard drive a few years back to 500gb.

I feel proud that i've never had to replace my PS3 and have actually put some effort into upgrading it

My original is the 80G MGS bundle purchased June of 08, the blue-ray laser crapped out about a year ago so it was moved to the bedroom and is now used for dvds and netflix, and yeah that fan got noisy. I got the slim replacement.
In that time though I have been through 4 360 black elites and I totally blame Mass effect for killing them each time. Got all of em replaced free though.

My original PS2 model is still working just fine, I opened it up a while back to clean the lens and it runs like a champ. Master system, Genesis, Dreamcast, Saturn, NES, Snes, Gamecube, and an intellivision II all still working =D Dont make em like they used to eh? Yeah yeah moving parts...

I've had mine for a bit over 3 years.

It's still going strong and hasn't really failed yet. It had a memory error, but I didn't lose much.

There is one very important thing to note: It hasn't been on for more than maybe 50 hours in its entire lifetime.

Had my old one since 2008, but I traded it in for a slim this past summer due to various deals which dropped the price to under $100. The old one still worked perfectly though.

I've had mine since 2007 and it's still totally functional. It's had a decent amount of use and has survived multiple cross-country moves as well.

I'm not the original owner, but I have a CECHA01 model and other than a laser replacement it's still chugging along, and playing all my PS2 games while it's at it.

I've got a launch edition 60gb. Australian version, so emulated PS2 games, not hardware.
Disc drive's a little slow accepting discs or pushing them out, but otherwise it's perfect. Dropped a 320gb HDD in it about a year ago for more space, and it's been opened and cleaned by the previous owner (late 2011ish).

As a comparison, i'm on my 3rd 360. Had a 2005 built launch console last until early-2010 (RRoD), replaced it with an original Elite that went until mid-2011 (RRoD, accidentally broke a capacitor while reseating the chip) which i then replaced with a RE5 edition Elite that's been working ever since, with a noisy disc drive (i install everything to the HDD).

Also on my 2nd wii. Played the first one for a max of 25 hours (after having bought a ton of stuff for it, including GC controllers+mem card+Wind Waker collectors for the OOT&MC disc) before i traded it in for my original Elite, then i bought a second one early last year. Went into a box mid last year, hasn't been out since.

My PS3 is still the exact same one that I got on Launch night way back in the day. It hasn't died once, though the HDD is really small =C

Did have an original 60gb fat one but it broke last year so thats 7 years of extensive use. I did fix it 3 times after it broke and it would work fine for a month or 2 then it would brick again with the yellow light of death and I would have to repeat.

360 lasted 5 years with another 6 months after repair (again original).

Suffice to say I was extremely unhappy with the pathetic build quality of last gen the 360 in particular was atrocious I dont know anybody in RL who had one for over 3 years that did not break at least once.

These two and the original Xbox (got unlucky with these had 2 break) are the only consoles I have had that have failed and I have owned most since the SNES. At least Nintendos seem to be reliable if short in other ways.

Hope the PS4 and Xbox One arent as unreliable, I have also had 2 PCs and one laptop die in 10 years so not to happy about that either.
