Hello fellow Escapists,

I don't really post much here and when I do I like my posts to be as unoriginal as possible. And so I present the opportunity you've always desired - a way to demonstrate your nerdy might to a bunch of nobodies on the interwebz. I've constructed two lists of anime characters, one for beginners and one for those who consider themselves more avid anime watchers. Step right up and show the rest of the Escapist just how much of a weeabo you really are!

Give yourself a full point if you can name a character and show and a half point if you can only name one of the two.

From the beginner list I see Saitama, Brock, Naruto, Yugi (Pharaoh), and Jet Black (... wow, I just realized how silly it is that his name is Jet Black).

And I only recognize the kid from Paranoia Agent on the intermediate list. I watched that when it was on Adult Swim, but all I really remember is the opening theme song and that the kid is a figment of mass paranoia experienced by many otherwise unrelated city-dwellers partially based on some other real kid who looks like him that spreads all over town because of a white lie some girl made up for some reason. Some of those details may be wrong but that's what I remember. Also a scene where the figment kid (Kidment?) crashes through a guy's windshield and the theme song blares.

Besides One-Punch Man, which I've only watched very recently, I think the most recent anime I've seen is Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.

As for the most obscure anime I've ever seen, there's a little show called Ebichu that a friend got me to watch. I would show a clip, but it's uh... it's not safe for work. It is hilarious, though.

As for my most weebiest anime I've ever watched, that would probably be Azumanga Daioh. I love that show, but I don't like to tell that to people because they'll often look at the opening theme song and judge me immediately. NO I SWEAR IT'S A SMART FUNNY SEINFELD-ESQUE SHOW THAT JUST HAPPENS TO BE ABOUT ADORABLE JAPANESE SCHOOL GIRLS STOP LAUGHING!!!

Recognized all of the older anime. The more recent ones gave me more trouble.

5 from the first and 0 from the second.
I could easily make lists of 20 different animes/mangas I know characters from, I believe the majority would go in an "easy / recognisable" type of list, but who knows. Animes I concider popular, which my friends know and I know and people in my country know, might not be famous at all in other countries.

Most of the first list except number 10 which i havent seen and number 9 because fuck number 9. As for the second list i had never heard of any of the series

I've heard of it. Isn't that the show to termed the phrase "waifu"? It's been on my list of shows to watch for a while now.

I won't judge you. Hell I'll one up you. Take a look at this OP.The OP really doesn't describe with the actual show is about (and that's sort of the point). If you're interested force yourself to the end of the first episode. You'll get what the show's really about after that.

Do it. Make a list. I am curious what different anime is popular in other countries. Had a conversion with an anime watcher from China and I was shocked to find shows like Cowboy Bebop, which are considered a classic in the US, was basically unknown.

I guess I have sort of mainstream tastes. Hehe... But the lists weren't suppose to be too obscure mostly shows I found interesting. If you think you can make a list of more obscure anime go ahead and post it.

3 i missed on the first list because i never watched the shows so it not something that jumps out at me. all since other then owning what 8 is from i haven't watched it in a while and not much when i did i don't own the rest or even watched them

Alright, I'll make a simple 10 person list like you had. For your entertainment :D
I won't use the same ones as you have been using, as Pokemon and Naruto for example, are very popular here in Finland
Maybe a few obscure ones, but you should get the majority of them
