8/9 out of 10 since I know where the series is from but I do not know the character name (character 4 while 2 is a character I've seen before but I do not know the anime name).
As for the second set, 3/4 out of 10 but I am fully aware that I don't watched all mainstream/ popular animes out there.

1. The Major. Her name is Motoko Kusunagi. From Ghost in the Shell. Something I've watched, on the very first option, booyah! Which reminds me, I want to watch Arise, as I haven't yet, I only found out about its existence this week.
2. Okarin from Stein's Gate. I need to finish watching this, actually - I used to watch an episode or two before bed but I stopped, as I started reading a book instead. I'll be finishing that very soon.
3. No idea at all. Erm, Seraph. Because she looks a bit like an angel.
4. Ah, I know I've seen that guy. No clue about the name or anime, though, as I'm pretty sure it was somebody's avatar or something. So, for a name...Lancelot.
5. Ranma from Ranma? I've not watched it but I think that's right.
6. No clue again. He'll be now known as Captain Depresso.
7. Wow, it's like somebody combined Yu-Gi-Oh and Shaman King. So, obviously, his name is Bob.
8. No idea. Courage. You know, like the dog. I'm fairly sire that if the dog was turned into a human, it would look like that.
9. Again, no clue. She;s also Bob.
10. And yet again, no clue. Gorgon. Since she has green hair and eyes.

5. She looks like a warrior. A manly warrior. I'll call her Branden because screw gendered names.
6. Shikki from Garden of Sinners. I know that's only the subtitle of the moveis but I can't remember the actual name. Still awesome films. I was thinking of putting her on my list too.
7. I dunno. I'll call him Django. She he from Panty of Stockings? I haven't seen it but the style looks similar.

The proof? I recognise at least 15 of the faces, and what anime they are from, but when put on the spot can name maybe 5 or less of the characters by name...

Easy: Can't name the One Piece kid, and I think the Attack on Titan guy is named Erin. Aside from that I know them all.

Advanced: Can't name the main character from Ghost in the Shell. 10 is from Mnemosyne (did I spell that right?), and I think her name is Rin? 3(An angel who is probably evil somehow), 4(A Knight with not enough armor), 6(Generic High School Kid) and 7(Kid-wizard-who-is-not-Negima) I don't know at all. Aside from that I know them.
Answers: Ah yes, Major Kusanagi, I remember now. And I guessed Rin right too (even got the spelling right)! I've heard of Aldnoah Zero and Haibane Renmei, but I haven't watched either. 4 and 7 still don't ring a bell.
VanQ: I only know Rin Tohsaka, and I recognise the ninja from Log Horizon. The rest I've never seen.
Answers: I've heard of iDOLM@ASTER, Accel World Nisekoi and No Game No Life, but haven't watched them. 7 and 10 are still completely unknown.
Kira Must Die: I was surprised at not seeing Hitagi Senjougahara and Shiki Ryougi earlier. But I don't know any of the others.

the only ones i didn't know were the characters numbered 2, 4 and 8.. I think 8 was a loser from that horrible anime attack on titan, but i'm not sure.. anyways .those characters are nto the most recognizable anime characters around... they would be Ichigo from Bleach, Naruto from Naruto/Naruto Shippuden,Rei from Neon Genesis Evangelion,Goku from Dragon Ball Z, Luffy from One Piece and Major Motoko Kusangai from Ghost in the Shell
