How Many Games Are "Too Many"?

A hundred, two hundred, a thousand... Two thousand? When does your game collection enter the realm of being simply too large? Is it possible to have too many games?

No. It's only too much if you can't handle the responsibility of it.

It's only too large when there either isn't enough space, or it's a huge pain to sift through all of them. Neither of those possibilities seems likely to happen to me, though.

I don't really think that it's possible to have too many games, although having a lot could be a sign of an unhealthy obsession.

You can NEVER have to many games.
You can have as many as your budget allows.

If your collection of games was enough that it could sink the state of California into the Pacific Ocean....then you MIGHT have too many games.

Why would you want to limit the amount of games you have in your library? That would be like limiting the amount of oxygen you can have per day, so to speak.

It becomes too large when you reach the point that you haven't completed a significant percentage of them. A significant percentage to me is enough that you know you haven't beaten them all. It varies by person though.

I think it's too much if you're cutting our money for things like food or rent to keep adding to the library...

I got tons of games, but I don't consider it as being too much. As long as they release games, I'm gonna have to buy the ones that are intresting!

Gotta assemble a new shelf for my games soon.

I've been buying games since 1989. I have never thrown a game away, nor have I ever sold one. I have to admit, many of my older ones are probably unreadable by now though.
I don't think it's possible to have too many games, so long as you have a place to store them.

Too many if you have about 200 games that you've been on once and never touched again. Or are still sealed.

Which is pretty much 90% of my PS3 collection -_-

You can never have too many games.

I went though a time where I bought a heck of a lot of games. So many that I wasn't finishing them. I built up quite a pile of shame (unfinished games) so i decided to stop buying new games until I finished most of my old ones. This worked for a little while but then there will always be new games to buy, so now i'm slowly ticking off the titles in my pile of shame when there isn't a new title that interests me.

My game collection has grown bloated and overly large. I got into gaming just before the xbox popped into existence, and I have games from six different platforms all sitting around, taking up a massive amount of room. I would probably dump most of them on Ebay, but for the memories...

For me, a game collection can never be too large.

If I won the lottery tomorrow and I got a lump sum of let's say 25 million after taxes, after I payed off all my debts and bought a nice house, I would go on a game shopping spree. I'd by a new gaming laptop, and a desktop, and all the latest console and handheld stuff, and I would buy every game I have ever had my eyes on owning. Then buy a nicer car, stuff the rest of that money in the bank and make a few small investments, and have a very early retirement where I game and write novels.

It always comes down to the memories. Can't say I have ever consider selling anything.

I even bought a third party console to play my NES games to keep the memories going.

if you have more than like say 12 games * your age then you probablay have too many games. or buy rubbish games that have no playability.

Funny story: When I was young I wanted to buy SO many games, but I could never afford to. Now I am a grown ass man who works three jobs and has enough money to buy all the games I wanted as a teen, even at ridiculous "collector" markups. But the downside is I now have no time to play any of them. So I own like 200-300 games, possibly even more. I'll maybe play ten games this year, and beat three of them. I'll never be able to catch up. Especially since I keep buying new and old games.

My roommate on the other hand buys a game, beats it, trades it in for store credit and repeats. I'm starting to think he may be a bit smarter than me.

But then I look at my copies of Lunar and Lunar 2 and get stoked.
