How Many Games Can You Recognize in This Blur Studio FX Video?

Stern faced white dude fights stuff, the game.

Seriously though highlight reels like this just serve to illustrate how pervasive that stereotype is in AAA gaming (And to an extent media in general). I think I saw a black dude in there once, a lady once or twice, and a talking baked treat just as often. How novel!

But then I'm probably missing the point, it's all very pretty to look at. Guess I'm just in a grumpy mood today that all I could think of after watching the trailer was the silly white dude thing mentioned above.
you do realize alot of the characters used in these were predefined for decades, right? (as in, all the DC characters like batman and such) and that BLUR has more than likely no say in regards to that? Hell did you not notice the incredible amount of characters with hoods/armor/helmets that you couldn't tell were any race?

I would definitely say a grumpy mood and a very odd bone to pick with race at the moment is the issue here considering the first line and main chunk of your post was about that.

OT: pretty impressive all this somewhat gelled together, wouldn't have thought it would before seeing this. I would definitely like to know what that background track is, I'd actually consider buying that.

Wow, some of those looked real rather than CGI. Amazing work.
If you meant some of the people, then yeah a few clips from Thor 2: The Dark World were live action with CGI effect in them.

That's a really amazing clip, it's amazing how far gaming has come in the last 20 years. It reminds me that there really is no limit to our imagination and that for all the places we've been in or fought for, there is still so much more to create and do yet.

Also, for anyone wanting the song name it's:

"Rebirth" by Two Steps From Hell

I found it!

Reverse Google image search brings up Knight's Contract.

Never played it, dunno how good it is, here's the trailer they took the clip from:

Maybe it's just because I've been doing a lot of reading lately, but it's just so booooring to have the same generic stereotype featured so often compared to the rich diversity I've been enjoying in literature. And no, saying 'they have a helmet so it could be anyone underneath' doesn't really make things any more diverse either.

This was almost certainly the wrong place to have brought that complaint up however, and for that I'm sorry. I'd delete the post so it doesn't risk derail conversation further, but since it's already been quoted twice that's not going to make any difference at this point.

A montage from a company that makes scenes that players demand the ability to skip. Oh and makes trailers to showcase better graphics than the game really has. They do amazing work and it is sad that games do not have the graphics shown but then again graphic scenes like most of that takes hours to render in most 3d editing software like 3DS Max but is just the tip of the iceberg on possibilities if you add in physics.

Nice video and a good show of creative work, hope it drums up business for them like they hope.

Ah, cool, thanks... can't say I've ever heard of it. Seems to have gotten pretty average scores, except for IGN who panned it (not triple A enough I guess). Might check it out for rentals.

No problem! If you check it out, I hope you have more fun than IGN did ;D

Now that we got that covered, where is that black slime kraken around 3:11 from? :D

My google-fu is too weak to get reverse image search to work...

They certainly do some amazing work, but I don't care much for trailers with actual content (speaking specifically about the game trailers, of course). I'd much rather see gameplay footage or at least something made with the game engine. Granted, putting trailers aside I love seeing promotional little side stuff, fan films, and the like. TF2 definitely comes to mind, I've quite enjoyed their Meet The Team videos and the comic books are fun :)

As for "how far we've come in 20 years", I don't know whether we're talking about games or animation here, but for the former I think a montage of actual games would be more appropriate :p
