Ok, so in most games walkthroughs are really unnecessary like Call of Duty. However other games, like God of War, end up being very frustrating to me without the occasional help from a guide online. I will find one of the puzzles and run around for about 10 minutes and before I become too pissed off I'll just run to my computer and figure out how to get past it. Then im onto the game again until I get stuck again.

My thought is: a lot of games are made to be explored and you are there to take your time and figure it out on your own. However at a point when I am just running around a single room trying to figure out how to get out, I really just want to know so I can progress with the story. God of War is fun because they incorporate puzzles into a hack and slash. I will usually figure out most all of the puzzles but every now and again there is one I run into that I just don't want to waste my entire day figuring out.

So how many people use walkthroughs and in what situation do you use them?

I have used walkthroughs on Pokemon, Final Fantasy & The suffering.
Not becaus ei found it hard, no i found the fighting aspect easy. It was getting lost constantly that was the problem. I didnt know where to go or who to talk to to advance.

I use them once I have finished a game, to get further tips and tricks to improve my style, but I hate to use them on a first playthrough.
Same here.

After i beat the game, ill use one.
Especially on Fighting Games and RPG's.
But i mostly but Guides for the art, and use internet walkthroughs when i get terrably lost, IE Golden Sun 2.

I use them as a last resort. Spoils games for me.

I know a girl who actually sat and played Tomb Raider Underworld with a laptop sat next to her x-box, logged into gamefaqs walkthrough. On her first go.

What's the bloody point?!

If there are those annoying puzzles in RPGs, I use a walkthrough.
Bioware especially loves putting those little bastards in their games.

I always use them when looking for those hidden items.

I just want the trophies when it comes to that. I never use them otherwise.

Except sometimes when playing the Force Unleashed... that game had some places where I was confused like hell. Like sometimes a gate you must open is blue, but sometimes it's not, so the first time I found a blue door I was extremely confused and thought it was some kind of blue laser-field there, so there was no point in going through.

And I didn't know that you could have a "force-struggle" by pressing square fast until I was facing Obi-Wan Kenobi

I use walktroughts in games like. Am i a bad player? NO! The puzzles make no sense. How the hell i'm supposed to know that i have to take a plastic bag, soak it in blood, put on a painting and it will burn the painting. Who the hell can come up with such crazy ideas? Why would anyone think ''Oh, here's a painting. All i need is a plastic bag and blood so i could burn this painting. Sure there's something behind it.''

For games with 90 percent puzzles, I use walkthroughs whenever I get stuck. (LoZ, Super Paper Mario)

Same here. I used a guide to find all the jumps/hidden CDs/etc in Saints Row 2 and pretty much every other open-world game I've played.

Occasionally an older game I'm re-playing might merit referencing one (like the teleportation men in the dark Fourside map in Earthbound). That shit always gets me turned around.

If i'm really stuck I do. It's more so I can get through the game quicker and get onto another one. Usually I find I have the right idea but I'm not quite doing it right, I'm facing the wrong way or something equally stupid.
