I have two friends whose Xboxes red ringed. I also have 3 friends with PS3s. They still work. All of them. I for one have neither system, although I wish I had one.
I do not wish to flame but my PC lasts 7 years, no hardware issues only few system reinstalations. Just small argument for people who say that PC gaming is expansive.
My first PS3's blu-ray laser died. I've lost one 360 to the RRoD and one to the E74. Then again, I got both 360's fixed for free, while it would have cost me over $125 to have my PS3 fixed.
I've had my 360 since a week after launch and it hasn't failed me once. I'm actually scared that it's going to break any day now...
My friends broke 3 times in a year though. It's just down to luck I suppose.
I have the same feeling, but let's see if this can stay somewhat mature.
I haven't had to replace either, but I barely use the 360 any more anyway and I only got a PS3 recently, so my results probably aren't terribly indicative of anything.
I've replaced my xbox twice although it was probably my fault for buying a used first gen model. The second time was also a dying used xbox that only lasted for about a month. I was finally able to return it and get a new xbox arcade that has been working great for two years so far.
