How much do you tip?

I do 15%-20% depending on how fast my drinks get refilled. At home delivery always justifies a 20%, unless they get lost and show up an hour late.

0% and nope I don't.

I live in England and believe if your being payed for your job why should I pay you to do your job? It's like 2 wages for one job, only you don't have to pay tax on one of the wages.
Do waiters and waitresses in your country make on average 2.35 per hour? Are tips considered the primary means of income for those employees?

Consider that first-- waitresses in the United States receive on average 2.35 USD per hour as income is primarily derived from tips.

If you don't tip in America, you should be ashamed of yourself, and if the wages are similar in the UK, I'd vote you should feel similar shame.
So it's your responsibility to top up there wages? Was there like a big meeting were it was decided from then on the costumers have to pay the other half of the wage? Thank god I am not going to the states then, I would be loathed everywhere I go.

If I don't care about alot of things bigger than a waitress who I don't know, so no I don't feel any shame.

They get paid atleast £5.60 per hour anyway.

Precisely zero since hey can get a job at walmart instead and make 4x that much in basic pay.
That logic is outstanding, according to you we shouldn't have any waiters and waitresses and everyone should be paid less because they should have a higher paying job. Out-fucking-standing.

Depends on how "happy" this ending I keep hearing about is.
But seriously, waiters and such others I tip for 10-20% If I like the service and visit the establishment often, obviously tips increase. Good service begets good money after all.

The only thing the bill shows is the food. The price of the service is up to the customer. If they bring your food out and refill your drinks they deserve at least something, especially here in the U.S.

OT: I tip 15%-25% to everyone who brings me food

My friends hate me for this.

I don't tip. Why should I give you more money for doing your job?

I'm often called "Mr Pink" when we eat out.
I agree with that. Also it's not customary in my country, but if I went overseas I wouldn't do it.

People don't give me tips when I take twenty minutes to track down a comic they want to buy or order in for them at no extra charge.

For those who don't know...Waiter and waitresses get paid far below mimimum wage and rely on tips to make that up.

That said: I leave a 20% tip. If they are bad, I leave 15%. If they are really bad, I leave nothing (haven't had that happen yet).
Not entirely true. I used to be a waiter for about 6 months while I was at Uni and I was getting paid $20 an hour. Tips were just a bonus. On a 5 hour shift, with tips I could average $30+/per hour on a good night.

I tip 5% plus the hotness number for women waiters and 10% for men so on average I give equally to both sexes but usually for some reason waiters are hot.

I never tip, and don't know anyone who does.

My American cousins came over and they tried to tip every bar we went to and most barmaid/dude didn't know what to do with it, and just laughed and gave it back.

I'm noticing a lot of little arguements about tipping. It's rather obvious we have a plethora of customs and practices on these forums.

Europeans don't tip. They don't have to. The waiters and waitresses just do there job, and they get paid decent honest wages because of it.

Americans tip at most places, because the restaurants here give out below minimum wage. It's expected. A friend of mine hated getting Europeans because they literally would tip <= $1 because that's what they're used to. No one needs to feel ashamed either way.

I'm actually not sure about Australia, anyone want to clarify? In any case I tip 15% at a place I've never been to and 20-30% for places I go regularly, because I personally know the servers.

In theory, no. The pay should not be near as bad as the US, which I know is a bit disgusting. I mean, say the food is bad and they do not tip? Hardly the waiter or delivery persons fault, they just took the food to them, gosh.

Some dodgy people here do pool all the tips and spread it out among everyone but I have heard some supervisors keeping the tips of themselves, that is disgusting. I try to not tip in places which do things like that.
