I do 15%-20% depending on how fast my drinks get refilled. At home delivery always justifies a 20%, unless they get lost and show up an hour late.
So it's your responsibility to top up there wages? Was there like a big meeting were it was decided from then on the costumers have to pay the other half of the wage? Thank god I am not going to the states then, I would be loathed everywhere I go.thiosk said:Do waiters and waitresses in your country make on average 2.35 per hour? I live in England and believe if your being payed for your job why should I pay you to do your job? It's like 2 wages for one job, only you don't have to pay tax on one of the wages.
Consider that first-- waitresses in the United States receive on average 2.35 USD per hour as income is primarily derived from tips.
If you don't tip in America, you should be ashamed of yourself, and if the wages are similar in the UK, I'd vote you should feel similar shame.
That logic is outstanding, according to you we shouldn't have any waiters and waitresses and everyone should be paid less because they should have a higher paying job. Out-fucking-standing.jasoncyrus said:Precisely zero since hey can get a job at walmart instead and make 4x that much in basic pay.
I agree with that. Also it's not customary in my country, but if I went overseas I wouldn't do it.LordCuthberton said:My friends hate me for this.
I don't tip. Why should I give you more money for doing your job?
I'm often called "Mr Pink" when we eat out.
Not entirely true. I used to be a waiter for about 6 months while I was at Uni and I was getting paid $20 an hour. Tips were just a bonus. On a 5 hour shift, with tips I could average $30+/per hour on a good night.Macgyvercas said:For those who don't know...Waiter and waitresses get paid far below mimimum wage and rely on tips to make that up.
That said: I leave a 20% tip. If they are bad, I leave 15%. If they are really bad, I leave nothing (haven't had that happen yet).
Really? Huh. Must have changed since I last studied the wage lawsXinfiniteX said:Not entirely true. I used to be a waiter for about 6 months while I was at Uni and I was getting paid $20 an hour. In theory, no. The pay should not be near as bad as the US, which I know is a bit disgusting. I mean, say the food is bad and they do not tip? Hardly the waiter or delivery persons fault, they just took the food to them, gosh.thiosk said:Do waiters and waitresses in your country make on average 2.35 per hour?
