I was just wondering what the usual price for a soft cover comic book is or "graphic novel" as some (silly) people call it. I want to order a comic book online (X-Men Endangered Species) it's the soft cover version and in total would cost me 25 dollars. So I'm wondering if that's a fair price.

Recently tried getting into comics and Ive been apalled at the prices- £25 for something like the entirety of watchmen and it took less then 2 days casual reading to finish, for that price I could get a trilogy of books and be reading for over a week.

Uh, 25$? Not quite. Try 2.99$-3.99$

Graphic novels are not -really- the same thing as "typical" comic books.

Taken off Wiki: "Graphic novels are typically bound in longer and more durable formats than familiar comic magazines, using the same materials and methods as printed books."

You can get the "X-Men Endangered Species" for $8 (hardcover $15) on the amazon.com, and with all the additional costs, you can get it even for around $12, depending on the shipping options you'll choose.

About the prices themselves: trade paperbacks(issues forming one story arc collected into one book), are usually between $10-$30 - price depends on things like: length, publisher, amount of the additional content and type of the cover (hard/soft)etc.

Single issues can cost from $1.99 to $5, depending on publisher and length, but majority costs around $3 or $4.

Personally, I tend to buy trades and I mostly read books from image and "Locke & Key" from IDW. I am reluctant to pick books from DC after the "relaunch" and cancellation of their only books I regularly red: "Doom Patrol" and "Secret Six". From marvel I usually end up picking "the Amazing Spider-Man", "Thunderbolts" and occasionally some "Deadpool."

depends on the comic, if its a collection, and if its big name.

I've seen the "indie" comics that sold for what would be the price of premium coffee, and i've seen some go for hundreds+.

but I guess that price sounds fair, or at least normal.
