How Much of a Savegame Coward Are You?

I tend to save every couple of minutes. However, I also like to keep a system of "regular saves" at major intervals (e.g. a new area or post-important plot point) as well as my quicksaves, so I often double up and wind up with a ton of saves.

The original Deus Ex counts how many times you save, and the last time I played it I had over 300 saves in about 12 hours. 90% of those saves never get loaded though... unless I die, I like to keep things going however I managed to do it.

Save game coward? Since when is saving considered cowardly? I've always viewed it as simply wise, like the gaming equivalent of buckling up in the car. Then again, my earliest gaming experiences WERE Sierra games... in any case, I usually rely on a rotating system of five to eight saves so my save directory doesn't get too cluttered. It also prevents counting my total saves, not that I care anyway.
Oh no no, don't get me wrong chum. Saving is glorious and integral to most games when I mean coward I'm talking about excessive saving or reliance on it to an extent it changes the playing experience. I am a total coward in that regard.

Saving a game makes you cowardly? Is that the same as hiring a business consultant or getting someone to manage your money?

In most cases I'm probably not during normal gameplay. In Persona 4, I'd always reload a save if I flubbed a school question but that's not typical in other games. I definitely save-scum if I'm being a perfectionist about something, but my perfectionist runs don't usually come until I've already beaten the game.

I usually am a savegame whore although I made an effort earlier today not to be. I was playing Pokemon Black and burned through three of the elite four before I saved. :)

Are you a savegame coward?
YES! I even go so far as to make 2 exact save files just in case.

Example:
Majora's Mask
Ninja Gaiden (I save at EVERY save station at least once)
Metal Gear Solid 1

I think one of the few games that I'm not a save coward on is Devil May Cry 3. Mostly because I'm quite sure of myself in that game and have no problem re-doing a level.

But I think I'll quote Jimmy Urine from the Left Rights on this subject.

"You all a bunch of pussies cause you get to save, while I had to play for 200 days just to get back to the last level straight. Just like Altered Beast I rise from my graaaaave."

I only do it when at hot-spots where I can die or mess up. For example, in Doom II I always save when going through those bullshit small-ass ledges. In AVP2, I save just before facing a swarm of Aliens.

I quick save before every wave of enemy, but it's kinda required because I always play games at the hardest difficulty.

I save every time I accomplish anything, but only on games with a quicksave button (Half-Life, Republic Commando, etc). Otherwise it's too much effort.

I have an awful habit of quick saving about three time a minute, so I guess I'm the biggest coward.

I think it depends on what game it is.
With Deus Ex (1 and HR) I saved like a beaver running on a beachvolley ball evading golfcarts in alcatraz.

But with most other shooters or games like Oblivion, I mostly just forget it or am too lazy to press 3 keys tops.

I never reload if im in trouble, but i do tend to quicksave a lot..
Especially in FO:NV, but that is more because i dont want to replay 5 missions because the gamed crashed and i forgot to save..

Yeah well this really is like driving safe. Alot of people start driving safer after their first accident. That's how I feel about savegames, after being fucked by Oblivion, Gran Turismo, Dragon Age. I have learned my lesson.

I sort of save quite often (every 30 mins to 1 hour), well it depend on what type of game it is and how much had happen within that time. Example if it's a JRPG I would be saving although I was level grinding I would save per hour.

I am the Chuck Norris of saving. I never do it, 'cos I'm MLG. Seriously though, I take my fallout stories way too seriously. On Fallout 3, my character was ashamed of a life of pillaging and murder, so he went to rivet city to prove himself by the Jihad of the sword and blow himself up with all the explosives he could find. 367 frag mines, 160 grenades, 8 mini-nukes and 187 plasma grenades later, he was in heaven with 75 virgins. I threw a grenade into this huge, inescapable pile of explosives and saved, deleting all other saves with that character to keep continuity.

Depends on the game and what I'm doing.

Fallout New Vegas, all the time, if only for the fact that I want to screw around and get away with it. Nothing says, "U MAD BRO?" than putting C4 in the pocket of an important NPC and ma-bla-blah-sploom-ing it from the safety of fifty feet away. :D
