Right...whatever you say.GigaHz said:Not wanting to post just because is fine. But this is related to a specific reason.Crono1973 said:Why is it lazy to type out a post and then not post it, regardless of the reason?
Not wanting to post to avoid a captcha is ridiculously lazy.
That would be the case if I was the only one with this opinion, but a few people seem to agree with me.Crono1973 said:Right...whatever you say.
I think a sentence is much easier to form but that is because I don't have a reading problem. Also, many CAPTCHAS require the refresh button because they are unreadable and of the ones that are readable, it's certainly much harder to read them than reading a sentence, that is the point of CAPTCHA though isn't it? To distort the word so that a bot can't read it?GigaHz said:That would be the case if I was the only one with this opinion, but a few people seem to agree with me.Crono1973 said:Right...whatever you say.
It is a few letters you need to read and input into a box. It takes more cognitive effort to form a coherent sentence, unless you have some kind of reading difficulty. If you do, I'm sorry.
Why create a thread if you're only extracting from the people who agree with you? 'Right... whatever you say' comes off as 'in one ear, out the other'. That is the point of a forum right? Getting different viewpoints of a single topic or opinion?Crono1973 said:I think a sentence is much easier to form but that is because I don't have a reading problem. I few people seem to agree with me too, so what...I am not keeping score, are you?
Same here. Although I think there should be a threshold to cross where they stop appearing as frequently (maybe 1000 but they wouldn't tell you when); it wasn't that big of an inconvenience.Sober Thal said:Before I joined the Pub Club, it never caused me to not post.
That just sounds silly. It takes a few seconds to type, no big deal.
I guess being called Lazy or stupid or idiot makes me unwilling to talk with someone and I do talk to people who don't mind the captchas. I am talking to you aren't I?GigaHz said:Why create a thread if you're only extracting from the people who agree with you? 'Right... whatever you say' comes off as 'in one ear, out the other'. I've only come across a small handful of captchas that were unreadable. In all cases, I hit the refresh button and get presented with something that is fairly easy to read or interpret. Compared to some of the other captcha systems out there, this one is one of the better ones. I have never spent longer than a few seconds inputing a captcha on this site.
In the past, I have been given captchas on other sites that would take me a good few minutes to properly decipher. And I'd do them because they were usually things I'd want, like a purchase or account creation.
I really don't understand why this is such a big deal to some people. Isn't the internet convenient enough?
I never called you stupid or an idiot once. Laziness has nothing to do with intelligence.Crono1973 said:I guess being called Lazy or stupid or idiot makes me unwilling to talk with someone and I do talk to people who don't mind the captchas. I am talking to you aren't I?
It's a big deal because it is unnecessary. The mods here are more than capable of dealing with spammers but instead they use CAPTCHA so they can spend more time issuing warnings for low content posts. You were not a spammer yesterday, you aren't today and the chances of you becoming one tomorrow are slim to none. Therefore, testing you every 20 posts is not necessary.
